Donald Trump says he wishes Ghislaine Maxwell well as the British socialite faces charges of facilitating the abuse of minors by her boyfriend and former associate Jeffrey Epstein.
The president also said he doesn’t “know the situation” regarding Prince Andrew, who federal prosecutors accuse of not responding to their attempts to discuss the case.
Asked during his first White House coronavirus press briefing since April about the Ms Maxwell’s alleged role in the sex trafficking conspiracy, the president said he knew her from their time in Palm Beach, Florida, and that they’ve met “numerous times.”
A reporter asked the president whether he believed Maxwell was going to “turn in powerful men” as she faces trial.
“I don’t know, I haven’t really been following it too much,” he said. “I just wish her well, frankly. I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach and I guess they lived in Palm Beach. But I wish her well, whatever it is. I don’t know the situation with Prince Andrew, I just don’t know. Not aware of it.”
Maxwell helped billionaire Epstein “recruit, groom and ultimately abuse” victims they knew were under the age of 18, according to charges filed in a six-count indictment on 2 July, which followed years of accusations from their alleged victims.
This is what former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said about Trump’s statement.
She has the goods on him. He is signaling “please don’t talk.”

That sounds about right.
We also learned that Maxwell hired Right Wing attack dogs to smear some of the women accusing her and Jeffrey Epstein of sexually abusing and raping them.
Courtesy of The Daily Mail:
Ghislaine Maxwell hired fake news purveyor Jacob Wohl to smear her and Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged victims, a former friend has told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview.
As part of a $25,000 deal made in June, Wohl and his lobbyist colleague Jack Burkman also allegedly pushed to get New York US Attorney Geoffrey Berman, who had led Epstein’s case, fired in order to stall or stop the criminal investigation into Maxwell.
Wohl and Burkman are far-right lobbyists who have become a laughing stock in DC after several failed attempts to smear top political figures including Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Cruz, Robert Mueller and Dr. Anthony Fauci by paying women to make false claims of sordid affairs and drug-dealing.
Oh yeah, she sounds like a real gem.
No wonder Trump went out of his way to wish her well.
Kind of makes you wonder just what she has on him, doesn’t it?
