US military sends aircraft carrier to the Middle East to send “clear and unmistakable message” to Iran.

And that message is “We are desperate to do anything to shift attention away from the findings in the Mueller report, which even includes starting a war.”

The U.S. military is deploying the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force to the Central Command region in the Middle East to send a “clear and unmistakable message” to Iran, national security adviser John Bolton said in a statement Sunday.

The action, confirmed by the Defense Department, comes “in response to a number of troubling and escalatory indications and warnings,” Bolton said, and is intended to convey “to the Iranian regime that any attack on United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”

Bolton added: “The United States is not seeking war with the Iranian regime, but we are fully prepared to respond to any attack, whether by proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or regular Iranian forces.”

President Donald Trump abandoned the multinational Iran nuclear deal in May of last year, and the Trump administration is expected to impose even more economic sanctions on Tehran in the coming days. Trump and others in the administration have consistently spoken harshly about Iran.

By all of the accounts, I have read the Iranians continue to honor the Iran nuclear deal despite the US pulling out.

I am not sure what the “number of troubling and escalatory indications and warnings” are that Bolton is talking about but I would remind him that our 2016 election process suffered a serious and consistent cyber attack from the Russians and we have done virtually nothing about it.

Cyber attacks, by the way, that are still going on.

It boggles my mind that the Trump Administration might be unaware that the American people will immediately see right through this “wag the dog” attempt to distract us from what is going on here domestically.

But we do.

Update: Always remember there is a tweet for everything.

I thought about that Trump war tweet as soon as Bolton became Trump’s advisor. The repubs will get us in a war, break the treasury and then the dems will have to clean up the mess again. And during the cleanup the dems will be accused of adding irreparable amounts to the deficit.

” A CRIMEa of the North”
“The environment is as much your enemy as anybody else,” “Pompeo pledged to confront Russia and China in the region at a meeting of the Arctic Council. “Just because the Arctic is a place of wilderness does not mean it should become a place of lawlessness,”
““We have to be able to show in a very credible fashion that we are ready to defend our allies up there and if we’re able to do that and deter the Russians, then we won’t see a Northern Crimea,” “If Putin feels that either we won’t fight or we can’t fight, then it certainly would embolden him to roll the dice and do something up there. Right now we want to make sure he understands that if he tries to pull a stunt, he’s going to be running into a buzz saw.”
“The consequences would be profound, and an enormous boon to Putin, but military leaders from the field to the Pentagon try to plow on, ignoring the threat from the most unpredictable president in U.S. history.”

“Pompeo on Monday praised the Arctic region — and its rapidly shrinking levels of sea ice — for its economic opportunities, despite continued warnings about the catastrophic effects of climate change.”

“canceled a scheduled trip to Germany, where he was planning to meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel “due to pressing issues,” the State Department said early Tuesday.

No specific reason was given for the cancellation. The press pool traveling with Pompeo has not been told where they are going next, and have been warned they may not be able to report from the country they are going to until after their departure.”

” when President Trump arrived on the island on October 3, he wasn’t mourning. He was goofing around.”
“we’ve forgotten that the antiracist values promulgated after the war didn’t trickle all the way down. In many circles racism was merely taboo, not discredited. It persisted under the guise of white victimhood—the silent majority, then “demographic anxiety.” Trump is president because the repressed has returned.”
” for the most part today’s racism doesn’t announce publicly the biological degeneracy of nonwhites. Rather, its focus is the preservation of white-Christian privilege through the exclusion of others from the body of the people.”
“We were already righteous, we told ourselves, and the righteous need no moral reckoning.” OK
