US Ambassador Nikki Haley resigns.

By |2018-10-09T07:47:20-08:00October 9th, 2018|Categories: News|19 Comments

This is a breaking story.

Haley just met with Trump and officially tendered her resignation, reports are that when will continue in her job until the end of the year.

This, of course, comes on the heels of news that Trump is once again planning to meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

But I’m sure there is no connection.

Pundits discussing a possible presidential run for Nikki Haley to begin in 3..2… wait it has already started?

Update: Here is Trump heaping praise on his departing UN Ambassador.

Haley has been very careful not to rock the boat, and clearly, she is not planning to make any waves as she jumps ship.

Update 2: Oh wait, there WAS a scandal brewing.

A watchdog organization is calling for an investigation into seven private flights taken by United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley that were paid for by South Carolina business executives.

The 2017 flights, which Haley listed on her public financial disclosure report this year, were between New York, Washington and three cities in her home state of South Carolina, where she was governor before joining the Trump administration. The watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington said the flights were likely worth about $24,000 and should be investigated by the State Department’s inspector general.

“By accepting gifts of luxury private flights, Ambassador Haley seems to be falling in line with other Trump administration officials who are reaping personal benefits from their public positions,” Noah Bookbinder, executive director of the group, said in a statement. “Our ethics laws are clearly written to prevent even the appearance of corruption and improper influence.”

At a “minimum,” Bookbinder said, Haley should have been sensitive to the appearance of accepting pricey gifts from businessmen — especially at a time when other Trump officials have been caught in scandals for lavish travel.

This is especially interesting because I just saw one of the talking heads on MSNBC saying that Haley was perhaps the first Trump Administration official to leave without a cloud of controversy following her.

There is nobody close to this president who is not under a cloud of controversy.

The rumor I read is Sessions is out after midterms, Miss Lindsey gets AG and Niki will run for Miss Lindsey seat.

Wonder if trump is going to pull out of UN using the excuse of no ambassador.

I found it hard to understand why she continued to serve in the Trump administration when she had to constantly support his outlandish behavior to her UN compatriots
It must have been hell for her. Problem is, it’s going to be difficult for her to get rid of the Trump stench..

According to a study done by the Pew Foundation, in 1994, 42 percent of women and 52 percent of men identified as Republican. By 2017, only 37 percent of women and 48 percent of men still did. In 1994, 48 percent of women and 39 percent of men identified as Democrats but by 2017, those numbers were 56 percent of women and 44 percent of men. Trump and his enablers in the GOP, it appears that tens of millions of American women voters have left the Republican Party forever.

“While resigning from her post as the United States’ ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley took time to thank individual members of the Trump family—most notably Jared Kushner, whom she deemed a “hidden genius.” After thanking President Trump and Melania, Haley added that “I can’t say enough good things about Jared and Ivanka. Jared is a hidden genius that no one understands,” she said, citing his work on NAFTA and the peace plan for the Middle East. She also complimented Ivanka, calling her a “great friend.” She added that the pair does “a lot of things behind the scenes that I wish more people knew about. Because we’re a better country because they’re in this administration.”” <daily beast

It is part of China’s 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, which aims to better connect the country to commercial hubs in Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania. China is the European Union’s biggest source of imports and its second-largest export market, adding up to more than $1 billion in trade per day. And sea shipping outweighs rail or air freight.

Anaconda strategy: Surround it and squeeze it.

It was purchased by Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) on January 12, 1977. Anaconda halted production in 1980, and mining ceased completely in 1982 when the deep pumps keeping the mine drained were shut off, allowing the mine to fill. It currently exists only as a massive environmental liability for Tesoro, the current owner of ARCO. ARCO merged with BP in 2000. BP in turn sold most of ARCO to Tesoro in 2010.

In 1889 the Rothschilds tried to gain control of the world copper market. In 1892 the French Rothschilds began negotiations to buy the Anaconda mine. In mid-October 1895 the Rothschilds, French and British, bought one quarter of the stock in Anaconda for $7.5 million. By the late 1890s the Rothschilds probably had control over the sale of about forty percent of the world’s copper production.

Have you seen the new attack video against Cruz? They’re using Cruz’ campaign phrase against him while implying he’s weak.

Not to mention that Beto was BORN and raised in Texas whereas Cruz is a Cuban born in Canada.

Who is “tough as Teaxas?” Not Ted Cruz.

Ed Gilgore & Lisa Ryan of NY Mag are not fans of Nikki Haley, and both are from South Carolina. Here is part of today’s “Slack Chat” while discussing Nikki Haley :

Ed: “My favorite theory is that she’s doing exactly what her mentor Sarah Palin did when resigning her governorship of Alaska: quitting a job the moment she’s gotten what she wanted out of it.”

Ed: “…She got undue credit for her perfectly timed abandonment of the Confederate flag back home (20 years after a previous Republican governor did so). And a lot of people seem to think she somehow represents a responsible conservative alternative to Trumpism.”

Lisa: “Also, we can’t forget how she went from not being a “fan” of Donald Trump’s to suddenly being one of his biggest supporters. I know that’s happened with a lot of politicians (including S.C.’s own Lindsey Graham), but it’s just so … bizarre to see someone completely do a 180 as soon as there’s the promise of power.”

Ed: “She’s either good at politics or just lucky. A bit over eight years ago she was an also-ran candidate for governor of South Carolina representing the Sanford-DeMint wild-ass right-wing faction of her party. Now she’s on everybody’s short list for a presidential ticket. And she’s only 46. It does impress me how she’s somehow cultivated a relatively moderate image, despite her background and her overall record in S.C. Lisa mentioned budget cuts. I always think of her State of the State address when she said South Carolina didn’t want or need any “union jobs.””

My take away is that Nikki Haley is just another politician and as I remember a Sarah Palin wannabe.

“The 2017 flights, which Haley listed on her public financial disclosure report this year…”

She disclosed the flights. What is the cloud of controversy?

“At a “minimum,” Bookbinder said, Haley should have been sensitive to the appearance of accepting pricey gifts from businessmen — especially at a time when other Trump officials have been caught in scandals for lavish travel.”

What? So it isn’t about the law, which she didn’t break, but it is about keeping up appearances to this guy’s satisfaction? Jesus Christ. A joke.
