Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a Democratic White House contender, announced early Friday that she will not seek reelection to Congress, declaring that she was “fully committed to my offer to serve” as president.

“I’m so grateful to the people of Hawaiʻi for allowing me to serve you in Congress for the last 7 years. Throughout my life, I’ve always made my decisions based on where I felt I could do the most good,” Gabbard wrote in a series of tweets posted at midnight, which included a video message and a link to a lengthy statement.

“In light of the challenges we face, I believe I can … best serve the people of Hawaiʻi & our country as President and Commander-in-Chief,” she continued.

Gabbard, who has represented Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District since 2013, handily defeated her Republican opponent in last year’s midterm elections by a margin of more than 50 percent.

But her path to winning a fifth term in 2020 was complicated by a formidable primary challenge from state Sen. Kai Kahele, as well as her thorny relationships with other Aloha State politicians.

Kahele has been garnering a lot of support from around Hawaii so that may certainly have factored into Gabbard’s decision, but it could also be related to something that Hillary Clinton said recently:

“They’re also going to do third-party again,” Clinton said. “I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on someone who’s currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.”

Hillary did not come right out and name Gabbard, but it was enough to get her to reveal her true nature on Twitter:

Yeah, that is not at all how Democratic presidential candidates talk about a former candidate who also served as both a Senator and First Lady.

Of course Gabbard would suggest that this is all conspiratorial thinking on our part, but then there is also this from Fox News

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, echoed the frustrations of many Republicans over a perceived lack of transparency in the handling of the impeachment inquiry led by House Democrats.

Appearing on “Hannity” Thursday, the presidential candidate said she originally supported the inquiry, but she stressed the need for transparency.

“I don’t know what’s going on in those closed doors,” Gabbard said. “We as members of Congress do not have access to the information that’s being shared. I think the American people deserve to know exactly what the facts are, what the evidence is being presented as this inquiry goes on.”

She also expressed concerns that a hyper-partisan impeachment inquiry would “tear apart” the country. “I’ve long expressed my concern about going through impeachment proceedings in a very, very partisan way because it will only further tear apart an already divided country.”

That is also not the way that a Democratic candidate for president talks. Ever.

Now I am not certain that Gabbard will launch a third party candidacy, but the signs are certainly pointing in that direction.

I will say however that if you are a Democrat who is thinking about voting for her that you are a fucking moron, as well as a tool of the Kremlin.

I just thought you should know that.
