Truth hurts, doesn’t it?

Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard filed a defamation lawsuit Wednesday against Hillary Clinton seeking $50 million in damages, claiming the former Democratic presidential nominee “carelessly and recklessly impugned” her reputation when she suggested in October that one of the 2020 Democratic candidates is “the favorite of the Russians.”

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, says it aims to hold Clinton and other “political elites” accountable for “distorting the truth in the middle of a critical Presidential election.” It also says Gabbard suffered an economic loss to be proven at trial.

Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill responded: “That’s ridiculous.”

Gabbard, a dark horse candidate who represents Hawaii, was on the campaign trail Wednesday and unavailable for comment about the suit, according to her law firm, Pierce Bainbridge Beck Price & Hecht LLP.

“Although Rep. Gabbard’s presidential campaign continues to gain momentum, she has seen her political and personal reputation smeared and her candidacy intentionally damaged by Clinton’s malicious and demonstrably false remarks,” Brian Dunne, a partner at the law firm, said in a statement.

Actually Gabbard had pretty much destroyed her own reputation and sabotaged her presidential campaign long before Hillary weighed in.

Gabbard is clearly just trying to drum up publicity as this lawsuit is doomed to fail.

This is what Clinton actually said courtesy of USA Today:

Clinton gave a wide-ranging interview on Democratic strategist David Plouffe’s podcast in October, where she suggested that the GOP was “grooming” a Democratic presidential candidate to run as a third-party candidate. Although Clinton didn’t name Gabbard specifically, the comment was seemingly directed to the Hawaii Democrat.

“She’s the favorite of the Russians, they have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far, and that’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not, because she’s also a Russian asset,” Clinton said. “Yeah, she’s a Russian asset, I mean totally. They know they can’t win without a third party candidate.”

So first off Hillary did not identify Gabbard by name, and it was one of her spokespeople who responded to a question about it referencing Gabbard by saying: “If the nesting doll fits … .”

That gives Clinton deniability. Besides she never insinuated that anybody was actively working with the Russians, only that the Russians were expoiting her to damage the other candidates and possibly support a third party campaign that would undermine the Democratic party.

All of which is true and supported by several articles in various newspapers.

But while we are on the subject of defamation perhaps somebody should remind Tulsi that she called Hillary Clinton “queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long.”

Yeah. nothing vague about that.

So bring it on Gabbard.

That is if you truly believe that your bullshit lawsuit will even ruffle the feathers of a woman who has faced off against the Republican party for 30 plus years, Vladimir Putin in her role as Secretary of State, and the American patriarchy that has been suppressing women for over two hundred years.
