Tucker Carlson rails against the Metric System as “weird, utopian, inelegant, creepy system that we alone have resisted.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson railed against the metric system of measurement in his show on Wednesday night, describing it as “inelegant” and “creepy.” James Panero, a cultural critic and executive editor of The New Criterion, joined Carlson for the segment.

Panero recently wrote an article for The Wall Street Journal attacking the metric system with its meters and kilograms and urging America to stick to its customary system of measurement, which resembles the old British Imperial system.

“Almost every nation on Earth has fallen under the yoke of tyranny—the metric system,” Carlson said. “From Beijing to Buenos Aires, from Lusaka to London, the people of the world have been forced to measure their environment in millimeters and kilograms. “The United States is the only major country that has resisted, but we have no reason to be ashamed for using feet and pounds.”

Panero called the metric system “the original system of global revolution and new world orders.”

Carlson replied: “God bless you, and that’s exactly what it is. Esperanto died, but the metric system continues, this weird, utopian, inelegant, creepy system that we alone have resisted.”

I am not going to lie, when I first saw a clip of this I thought “Well that must be fake, or a parody, or some kind of Fox news trap for liberals.”

But nope, it turns out it was absolutely serious.

Keep in mind that there is a segment of the population who ONLY get their news from Fox News and believe every ridiculous thing said on the various programs.

well in the first place, he’s got his definitions wrong:
    In philosophy of science
In the philosophy of science, there are two concepts referring to two aspects of simplicity. Elegance (syntactic simplicity) means the number and complexity of hypotheses. Parsimony (ontological simplicity) is the number and complexity of things postulated.[1]

    In mathematics
The proof of a mathematical theorem exhibits mathematical elegance if it is surprisingly simple yet effective and constructive; similarly, a computer program or algorithm is elegant if it uses a small amount of code to great effect.[2][3]

Certainly, the metric system is much simpler than the US system. Certainly adopting the metric system as the rest of the globe has would make manufacturing more cost-effective.

Please do not bring up science nor math . Deer in headlights.
And Piper is going to be a nurse. Of course she is, I remember the flash cards.

  5. slipstream June 9, 2019 at 3:30 pm

Because it’s far easier to divide by 5,280 than it is to divide by 1000.

Look at those 2 doofuses. Looks like Mr. Panero dug up one of Tucker’s old bow ties.

Metric prefixes are in multiples of 10 – so “inelegant” for Tucker. What a dope!

The whole planet functions on the metric system; sara-lee tucker and back-woods faux magats are fuckin’ retarded…

Inelegant? The SI (Systeme Internationale) units for radiation are a bit tough, but not too many use those on a regular basis. Even the units used in the US still utilize metric prefixes like micro-, milli-, and mega-.

When piper is a nurse, she will only be trained to deal with non-metric patients. She will need a stunt double to sub for all the metric patients.

No one in america resisted the metric system. Our education system is null and void and panders to us. There was a time when in elementary school we learned roman numerals and cursive writing and shorthand. As i grew up in the school system i saw that it was dumbed down. The educators made it so that our tasks as students could not be failed and in time we as students stop thinking for ourselves. Coincidence? I bet not. Now we are a nation of dummies who are flattered by the fascist in the white house. The grand plan has worked. Numb the mind with ideotic nonsense and they can be ruled. We have our own royalty here in america. The trumps, kanye, kim, kloe and whoever else the elites can stump our way to further obliterate our mentality to obscurity.

Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) left Fox News with no response after he called out Trump’s birtherism against Barack Obama.

Rep. Cicilline said on Fox News Sunday, “I don’t have any difficulty with those words It’s kind of rich to have the president complain about this when he began a campaign with ‘lock her up’ as his bumper sticker and led an effort to delegitimize the first African-American president.”

OIL=The U.S. Federal Government estimated the total discharge at 4.9 million barrels (210 million US gal; 780,000 m3).

More than nine years after the greatest oil spill disaster in U.S. history, many of the safety regulations put in place after the horrific BP disaster are at risk. We can’t let the oil industry write the rules. It’s time for agencies to put public health over industry profits and protect coastal residents and the people who fight oil spills in the future. “Out of sight, out of mind,” 1.84 million US gallons (7,000 m3) of oil dispersant…Used

Exxon Valdez =Joseph Hazelwood = 11 million gallons of OIL

The metric ship has already sailed, Tucker. Every bought a two liter bottle of soda? And medication doses are measured in milligrams. Deal with it.
