Courtesy of CNBC:

President Donald Trump’s military parade this fall is shaping up to cost $80 million more than initially estimated.

The Department of Defense and its interagency partners have updated their perspective cost estimates for the parade, according to a U.S. defense official with firsthand knowledge of the assessment. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The parade, slated for Nov. 10, is estimated to cost $92 million, the official said. The figure consists of $50 million from the Pentagon and $42 million from interagency partners such as the Department of Homeland Security. An initial estimate last month pegged the prospective cost for the parade at $12 million.

A Pentagon spokesman said in an email to CNBC that the Defense Department expects to make an announcement soon, but he would not comment further. The White House referred questions to the Defense Department.

The $92 million cost estimate includes security, transportation of parade assets, aircraft, as well as temporary duty for troops. The official also noted that while the size and scope of the military parade can still shift, the plans currently include approximately eight tanks, as well as other armored vehicles, including Bradleys, Strykers and M113s.

So now Trump’s stormtrooper parade is not only an incredibly stupid fucking idea, but it is an incredibly expensive fucking idea.

92 million dollars of taxpayer money completely wasted to feed this asshole’s ego, and it is guaranteed that the dipshits who voted for him will not even bat an eye.

Big update: Pentagon just signaled in a statement moments ago that it’s examining pushing the parade back to 2019. Signals big potential budget issues.
Moments earlier, @AmericanLegion expressed opposition to the parade: “Until such time as we can celebrate victory in the War on Terrorism and bring our military home, we think the parade money would be better our troops and their families the best care“
Opinion: Trump will get his absurd military parade — thanks to Republicans who indulge his egomania

Examining? Why not put a halt to it PERIOD. NO, and end of story. I don’t care if he’s the commander-in-chief, not for stupid shit such as this.

I am hoping that the military will opt out of Don the Con’s egomaniacal parade. Don the Con has made a mockery of the US military since he was old enough to serve in the Vietnam War. Not only is it contrary to American tradition but it makes a huge mockery of the commemoration of the original Armistice Day. Armistice Day was always meant to be a day of “remembrance” of ordinary men and women who gave their lives for their country. In other countries where many more people died in the 1914-1918 orgy of military might the day is kept by quiet remembrance at military cemeteries and in churches. It is not a day to flaunt military might or the ego of a leader gone mad in his envy of despots.

$92 million to feed his ego for a couple of hours when the money could go to better use is the ultimate taxpayer scam.

Maybe his fellow prisoners can hold a parade around the yard for him instead.

There are those that idolize this asshole. You look everyday at Sarah Huckabee Sanders stumping for this man and not batting a smoky mascarared eye as she lies and lies. Trump’s presidency brought forth all the people in the country who have an agenda. Trump leads this agenda to overcome the poor, the middle class, and brown people. Sarah Huckabee and her father, and Franklin Graham and the Kock brothers are all brushing lint off of their swastikas thinking that they have this one in the bag. I hope American people awake and come to their own country’s rescue.

The Latest: Trump cancels military parade, ‘maybe next year’
    The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) The Latest on President Donald Trump’s military parade (all times local):

    8:10 a.m.

President Donald Trump says he is canceling his plans for a military parade through the streets of Washington because the price was “ridiculously high.”

On Twitter, Trump accused local politicians of price gouging, although the projected $92 million cost was largely attributed to Pentagon costs for aircraft, equipment and personnel.

Trump tweeted “maybe we will do something next year when the cost comes WAY DOWN.”

The Defense Department had already said the parade wouldn’t happen this year……….

This would be just like the massively over-funded inaugural. Total slush fund that went into somebody’s pockets.

The Latest: DC mayor says she got through to Trump on parade
    The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) The Latest on President Donald Trump’s military parade (all times local):

    9:30 a.m.

The mayor of Washington, D.C. is firing back at President Donald Trump, who blamed local officials for the “ridiculously high” cost of his proposed Veterans Day military parade.

Mayor Muriel Bowser tweeted Friday that she was the one who “finally got thru to the reality star in the White House with the realities ($21.6M) of parades/events/demonstrations in Trump America (sad).”

The Associated Press has reported that officials thought the full price tag would be about $92 million.

The Defense Department said Thursday the parade would not happen this year. Trump on Friday added that maybe it would happen in 2019 “when the cost comes WAY DOWN.”

Trump blamed local politicians for inflating the cost, but although the projected $92 million cost was largely attributed to Pentagon costs for aircraft, equipment and personnel.

HOLD UP! “The local politicians who run Washington, D.C. (poorly) know a windfall when they see it. When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it. Never let someone hold you up! I will instead…

….attend the big parade already scheduled at Andrews Air Force Base on a different date, & go to the Paris parade, celebrating the end of the War, on November 11th. Maybe we will do something next year in D.C. when the cost comes WAY DOWN. Now we can buy some more jet fighters!
    4:10 AM – Aug 17, 2018

Well enough to outmaneuver Trump’s dumb ass though, amiright?
And when I say dumb ass, I’m not speaking metaphorically or using hyperbole. The guys is an idiot.
He wants to “honor the military” with a parade. When the costs spiral out of control and he’s forced to cancel it, instead of putting the money into veteran’s services, he’s going to buy more “jet fighters.”
Now, Trump’s parade was going to cost approximately $100 million.
    $100 million. Imagine that.
When the parade is cancelled, he says “Now we can buy some more jet fighters!”
    Really? Jet fighters, you say?
Let’s just take a look at that, shall we?
There are 3 version of the F-35, the latest US military fighter jet just now coming into production.
    F-35A, cost: $95M per unit.
    F-35B, $123M per unit.
    F-35C, $122M per unit.
The F-22, America’s mainstay fighter cost us a staggering $339M per aircraft during its initial production run. But, good news, additional aircraft will only cost us somewhere between $138M and $160M depending on how they are equipped. What a bargain.
The USAF is exploring an upgraded F-15D, the F-15X, unit costs can’t even be computed at the moment but given what’s known about the test platform’s capability, you’re likely looking at $80-$100M per unit.
Now, how many more fighter jets was Trump planning on buying with his leftover parade money?
You maybe starting to understand why his businesses kept going bankrupt?
This guy has no goddamned idea what he’s doing. But he’s doing it to us good and hard anyway.
He wants to “honor the military?” He’d put the money into veteran’s services, medical care, dental, education, business loans.
Or better yet, into diplomacy to make the likelihood of war LESS likely.
See, if you really want to honor veterans and what they fought for, then you spend your money on DIPLOMACY. Make war and conflict LESS likely. There’s no glory in war. If you really want to honor veterans, honor PEACE instead.
But, of course, none of this money actually exists in the first place and never has. And isn’t it funny how Republicans don’t seem to give much of a damn about the national debt anymore?
This parade isn’t about honoring the military.
Like everything else with this clueless rat-fucker, it’s about his own ego. Everything about this guy is a disgrace. He needs to go.”

“Yup, I’m Muriel Bowser, mayor of Washington DC, the local politician who finally got thru to the reality star in the White House with the realities ($21.6M) of parades/events/demonstrations in Trump America (sad).”

“taking care of our veterans.” Roosevelt Room on March 17, 2017.
‘“It was really fucking weird,” one attendee bluntly assessed to The Daily Beast.’
“Weidman was imploring the president and his team to permit access to benefits for a broader number of vets who have said they were poisoned by Agent Orange.
Trump responded by saying, “That’s taken care of,” ”
“Attendees began explaining to the president that the VA had not made enough progress on the issue at all, to which Trump responded by abruptly derailing the meeting and asking the attendees if Agent Orange was “that stuff from that movie.””

“Vietnam War veterans—chimed in to inform the president that the Apocalypse Now set piece he was talking about showcased the U.S. military using napalm, not Agent Orange.
Trump refused to accept that he was mistaken and proceeded to say things like, “no, I think it’s that stuff from that movie.”
One clue belying the president’s insistence is that the famous Robert Duvall line from the scene in Apocalypse Now, “I love the smell of napalm in the morning,” is not “I love the smell of Agent Orange in the morning.”
“He then went around the room polling attendees about if it was, in fact, napalm or Agent Orange in the famous scene from “that movie,”
“Finally, Trump made eye contact again with Weidman and asked him if it was napalm or Agent Orange. The VVA co-founder assured Trump, as did several before him, that it was in fact napalm” ” Trump then flippantly replied to the Vietnam vet, “Well, I think you just didn’t like the movie,” before finally moving on.”
“Weidman told The Daily Beast that he does “hate that movie,” and while he did not go into specifics of this part of the meeting, he did confirm that Trump “said something where it was clear he was confused by napalm and Agent Orange.”

kkkCONway’ “President Trump donated his quarterly salary to the Veterans Administration, and took action to allow vets to use their GI Bill education benefits at any time during their lifetime, and process their disability claims more quickly than ever before.”
“According to Weidman, VVA brought up two main issues to Trump that day: the Agent Orange matter, and making those who have an “administrative discharge” rather than an “honorable discharge” on their record eligible for benefits.

“[Many of] these kids have PTSD, and instead of treating them, they get kicked out and are not eligible for the GI Bill, the VA, nothing,”

Aaannnnnnnd, it’s off. And the orange shitgibbon stomps his tiny feet and storms off to his buddy Macron for solace to steal some of the reflected pomp of France’s parade.
