Trump wanted to buy back the decades of secrets the National Enquirer had collected about him.

Oh, I bet he did!

Courtesy of NYT:

Federal investigators have provided ample evidence that President Trump was involved in deals to pay two women to keep them from speaking publicly before the 2016 election about affairs that they said they had with him.

But it turns out that Mr. Trump wanted to go even further.

He and his lawyer at the time, Michael D. Cohen, devised a plan to buy up all the dirt on Mr. Trump that the National Enquirer and its parent company had collected on him, dating back to the 1980s, according to several of Mr. Trump’s associates.

The existence of the plan, which was never finalized, has not been reported before. But it was strongly hinted at in a recording that Mr. Cohen’s lawyer released last month of a conversation about payoffs that Mr. Cohen had with Mr. Trump.

It is not clear yet whether the proposed plan to purchase all the information from American Media has attracted the interest of federal prosecutors in New York, who last week obtained a guilty plea from Mr. Cohen over a $130,000 payment to the adult film actress Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels, and a $150,000 payment to a Playboy model, Karen McDougal.

But the prosecutors have provided at least partial immunity to Mr. Pecker, who is a key witness in their inquiry into payments made on behalf of Mr. Trump during the 2016 campaign.

The people who knew about the discussions would speak about them only on condition of anonymity, given that they are now the potential subject of a federal investigation that did not end with Mr. Cohen’s plea.

Well since Michael Cohen is now cooperating with the feds and David Pecker has an immunity deal, that everything the National Enquirer had in that safe of theirs is now in the hands of the Mueller investigators.

And while I am sure that most of what is inside that safe is made up of Trump paying off mistresses and hiding bastard children, there is likely more than a few stories which may indicate criminal activity.

I can only imagine the scandalous stories that are soon to be exposed to the national spotlight.

The tabloid that’s been protecting Trump lost $72 million last year

It turns out the National Enquirer’s decision to become a work for Trump, attacking his enemies and trying to silence women from his past, isn’t paying off financially.

In fact, the Associated Press reports, “The Enquirer’s privately held parent company, American Media Inc., lost $72 million for the year ending in March.”

The collapse comes “despite AMI chairman David Pecker’s claims that the Enquirer’s heavy focus on Trump sells magazines,” according to AP.

Pecker now finds himself deeply enmeshed in scandals and investigations, after the tabloid served as a conduit for Trump’s presidential campaign, arranging payments for women who had affairs with the Republican.

Please also buy all the dirt Pecker has from campaign 2008. Sarah Palin’s family had an abundance of secrets about Track, Bristol and Willow. Todd and Sarah, too.
Pecker will flip on everyone. Man up and buy Palin dirt for her.

Team Mueller hopefully bought the lot of dirt and now has it on many people associated with the rump and pecker. The movie “active measures” comes out tomorrow, the rump should enjoy it all weekend long as real men will be with their friend Senator John McCain.

“in George’s telling, a spare operation that at times acted as a protection racket for certain favorite celebrities — especially Donald Trump, Pecker’s close “personal friend.””I think it’s just basic corruption. David Pecker’s last interest is in reporting the facts.” “Pecker fancied himself Donald Trump’s sidekick.” “They were the social underdogs that just missed the mark as far as society went, and an alliance was formed.” “per Pecker.”>
“If Trump was referred to as a billionaire, the fix would come back: “multi-billionaire.” It was all blowing smoke ―

Avenatti said. “What’s amazing to me frankly, is that this is another example of someone close to Trump that didn’t trust him.”
“Trump demands 100 percent loyalty from everyone around him but gives loyalty to no one. ultimately it is going to come back and bite him.””

“Every journalist—especially young ones—would benefit by reading Marty London’s book, “The Client Decides.” Journalism schools should have it on their reading lists; journalism teachers should teach it.
Here’s why: London is one of the best, and best-known, lawyers of his generation; a brilliant and fierce advocate for clients who has been especially successful in representing clients against adversaries who were trying to use the First Amendment and “freedom of the press” arguments to win cases. Journalists, journalism institutions and major press outlets have repeatedly lost to his arguments, in many cases setting court precedents that reverberate to this day.
I, among many others in my profession, haven’t always agreed with his arguments and worry about some of the court precedents set by some of his cases. But he is respected, even admired, partly because —deep down— he likes and admires reporters and the press in general, and he understands and respects the key role of good journalism in a country such as ours.
So when he challenges many of our beliefs and assumptions about the First Amendment and press freedoms, when he questions some of our practices and conceits, and when his practice as an attorney furthers the overall public good, we listen, learn and grow stronger, better. Or we can and should.

By the way, the chapter on his handling of the corruption case that forced Vice President Spiro Agnew to resign during the Nixon era is a very instructive read for everyone —a must read—in the context of what is happening now in the Trump years”<Dan the Man Rather

"the author describes his defense of his lawyer-friend who was sued by Donald Trump for $105,000,000! London’s work in that case was so successful, that in the end, Trump paid London’s fees! The book also reports the details of the author’s pro bono work that led to the disbarment of Roy Cohn, and the removal and sanction of unfit judges and lawyers."

Do they have Trig’s long form birth certificate? Or has it yet to be translated into English from Russian?
Also do they have video from the Alaska Airlines flight of Sarah fluffing her stomach pillow, maybe the feathers were itching or kicking?

Looking at the lies he has published over the years I’m finding it hard to believe that Pecker has a safe full of truth.

There’s no honor among thieves. You live by the tabloid, you die by the tabloid. And so on. I can’t wait until Palin and Trump are just a sad blip in our past. They cause so much pain and problems in everything they touch. I wonder why some people thrive only on chaos?
