As he headed into Memorial Day weekend, Donald Trump complained that he was COVID-19’s biggest victim. “He was just in a fucking rage,” said a person who spoke with Trump late last week. “He was saying, ‘This is so unfair to me! Everything was going great. We were cruising to reelection!” Even as the death toll neared 100,000 and unemployment ranks swelled to over 38 million, Trump couldn’t see the pandemic as anything other than something that had happened to him. “The problem is he has no empathy,” the adviser said. Trump complained that he should have been warned about the virus sooner. “The intelligence community let me down!” he said.
Trump’s outburst reflected his growing frustration that, at this stage of the race, he is losing to Joe Biden. According to a Republican briefed on the campaign’s internal polls, Trump is trailing Biden by double digits among women over 50 in six swing states. “Trump knows the numbers are bad. It’s why he’s thrashing about,” the Republican said.
Even those closest to Trump have been privately worried the election is slipping away. According to a source, Melania Trump warned the president during their trip to India in February to take the virus response seriously. “He totally blew her off,” the source said. Melania later told people that Trump “only hears what he wants to hear and surrounds himself with yes-people and family,” the source added.
I have no problem believing this to be accurate.
Trump’s tweets this weekend were on a whole other level of batshit crazy.
I am sure that those close to Trump are suffering some serious PTSD as he careens from one self-pitying episode to the next.
The type of narcissism it requires to see yourself as the biggest victim during a pandemic that results in 100,000 American deaths, may require a whole new definition in the DSM 5.

I think exhaustion has finally set in. Nothing will dissuade his cult, but there were always some supporters that supported him for one thing or other without the brainwashing. Stock market, abortion, economy, whatever. They are the sane ones that are emotionally exhausted by his constant complaining, whining, tantrums, stupidity, racism, etc. I think more and more of them have had enough and would rather vote for Biden or simply not vote for Trump. They’re tired. Nothing is going to help. The stock market could rally, all of the jobs could come back, but these voters are tired of him and they’re not going to come back. The virus will continue, Trump will continue to act like an asshole, these people will lose friends and loved ones and they all know it is Trump’s fault.
The second wave will hit by the time Trump has his big nomination convention rally. Deaths will continue to mount. He will continue to be callous and inhuman, further alienating those that aren’t part of his brainwashed cult.
Whether the Democratic nominee is Biden or not, it’s not going to matter. It’s not going to matter who is the VP nominee. The Democrats aren’t going to win. Trump is going to lose. He is going to lose all by himself by being himself. You can see it in all of the ads. They are all Trump being used against Trump. (When it’s not Lindsey Graham being used against Lindsey Graham.) And Trump will be pulling the rest of the Death Party ticket down. The Republicans will lose House and Senate seats. Trump will taint every candidate that tries to run on his coattails. He has become the Death Party’s albatross. Typhoid Trump. Killer of the GOP and destroyer if what used to be the Greatest Country in the World.

Well, I hold him personally accountable – for the whole mess. There were plenty of warnings beginning in December that a pandemic was in the offing and Trump did absolutely nothing. Worse than that, he and his henchmen undid work done by previous administrations to prepare for pandemics, which, for a normal president, must always be a gnawing concern. So, of course, Trump is now making himself to be the greatest victim. I think the real victims are: 1) those who have died and their families, 2) those who have been sick with COVIS-19, 3) those whose jobs have disappeared and can only hope that they will reappear, 4) those who suffer, along with their families, because they no longer have the income needed to put food on the table or pay the rent, 5) those who are caring for the sick or working in other essential jobs, and 6) those of us who are simply tired of being imprisoned at home finally although we understand the reasons for it. I personally blame Donald Trump for all of it.

While a part of my sympathizes with her a part of me doesn’t. She is more sensitive to what is going on than he is. She tries but she doesn’t try enough. And he is likely too scared to lose her meal ticket and her citizenship. But she has empathy. She is smart enough to understand what is going and and whose fault it is. She also knows he has the power to change things and make them a lot better and he’s not. While I’m sure she knew some of his character faults from the beginning (and married him anyway) I think being president and now the pandemic has amplified his shortcomings so that no one can miss them. I think she’s been shocked at some of what he’s done and is probably very afraid of what he is capable of doing without a moment’s pause. He has no conscience. He has no empathy. We’ve seen some indications of her displeasure. But I think she has gone from unhappy to just plain scared. I think she is afraid of what he is capable of, because he seems to be able to sink to new lows and then lower still. There is not depth to which he can not sink. He is a bottomless pit of evil.
He isn’t just a malignant narcissist. He is also a sociopath. Throw in president of the United States and you’ve got a dangerous trifecta.

I think she was always more humane than the tub of lard she’s married to. I think Trump has worn on her like the rest of us. These last four years have been bad and increasingly worse and she just can’t take it any more. While I think she is very reluctant to confront him in public, likely due to her upbringing, I have no doubt there is conflict in the privacy of the residence. I also believe she and Baron stay as far away from him as possible and avoid his presence unless absolutely necessary.
