Trump lawyers preparing written answers to questions from Robert Mueller.

Yeah, we knew that Trump’s lawyers would never let him answer questions on his own.

Courtesy of CNN:

President Donald Trump’s legal team is preparing answers to written questions provided by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The move represents a major development after months of negotiations and signals that the Mueller investigation could be entering a final phase with regard to the President.

The questions are focused on matters related to the investigation of possible collusion between Trump associates and Russians seeking to meddle in the 2016 election, the sources said. Trump’s lawyers are preparing written responses, in part relying on documents previously provided to the special counsel, the sources said.

“We are in continuing discussions with the special counsel and we do not comment on those discussions,” said Trump attorney Jay Sekulow.

There may be more rounds of questions after the first answers are returned. The special counsel had insisted that there be a chance for follow-up questions as well. But after a prolonged back-and-forth over months, the two sides agreed to start with a first round of questions.

Additionally, the two sides have still not come to an agreement on whether the President will be interviewed in person by investigators who are also probing whether Trump obstructed justice by firing FBI Director James Comey.

Asked on Thursday about answering Mueller’s questions, Trump again signaled his willingness to sit down for an interview with Mueller or provide written responses — the option much preferred by his attorneys.

Simply put Trump is NEVER going to agree to a sit-down interview with the Special Counsel or his team.

Trump is a bully and a coward who does not have the balls to face anybody as smart and tough as Robert Mueller.

The fact that we are now at the stage where it is Trump’s turn to answer questions may signify that this investigation has reached a critical stage.

It is my opinion that if Mueller is asking Trump questions directly related to Russian collusion with the Trump campaign during the 2016 election, it is because he already has the evidence to make that case and is only waiting for Trump to deny it on the record.

If that is accurate it will be a real test of the intelligence of Trump’s legal team to see if they can keep him from perjuring himself, even in answers carefully written by them.

I don’t see the point if his attorneys are writing the answers, but I am sure Mueller has his reasons since he knows so much more than we do.

I am hoping trump ticks off the DOJ, Sessions in particular, and they make the results of the investigation public. I don’t see how they can keep the truth from us. And no, I don’t care if his 30% base threatens civil war if they don’t like the results, that is what the national guard and military are for, lock them all up.

Trump’s ‘Secret History’ With Women Is Eyeopener, Makes Total Sense

Author and journalist Nina Burleigh just published a new book, Golden Handcuffs: The Secret History Of Trump’s Women wherein she explores the *resident’s fraught relationship with his wives, the women who accused him of assault, his public ogling of his daughter — and that’s fascinating, but the real Rosetta Stone is how his immigrant mother’s fascination with wealth and being one of the Big People instead of a lilliputian seared his psyche for life. New York Magazine:

And Donald’s mother, Mary Anne — I had no idea she was a domestic!
A domestic in one of the wealthiest homes in America. I couldn’t believe it when I looked her up in Census records. Her first address was in the Carnegie household, the closest thing to a castle that existed in the U.S. in that time. So she’s 19, coming from a place in Scotland where ten kids are crammed into a two-bedroom cottage. Then she’s polishing banisters or silver and watching this woman [Louise Carnegie] with the airs of a queen being chauffeured around with footmen. It marked Trump’s mother for life. She admired that wealth and wanted to be part of it, and Donald inherited that from her.

So it gave him an appetite for royal trappings. Do you think it also gave him a sense of always being an outsider?
It’s two sides of the same thing. The entire country is now living in this man’s conflict between a desire to be royalty and a profound feeling that he doesn’t belong…….

OT? Want to Bet? Long and Telling the Age of the Pampered Princeling.>
“The American political system began as a protection racket for propertied white men, granting inalienable rights to a minority at the direct expense of enslaved Africans and women.
Serious proposals to level the playing field — from a truly integrated public school system to fair wages for domestic work — were squashed again and again.”

“Inside families with great fortunes at stake, siblings are similarly pitted against each other for control of the greatest prizes. So Trump fashioned himself as a “killer” to beat out his older brother Fred for his father’s favor. trump children feel no such compunction to lie and, much like the crown princes of oil emirates and the “princeling” spawns of top Chinese party officials, they seem to revel in their status as heirs to a throne.
And, as Mayer reported, the three younger Koch brothers staged a mock trial accusing their oldest brother (also named Fred) of being gay so that he would relinquish his claim to the family fortune.

All of this is part of a time-tested process of training and indoctrination designed to toughen up the soft sons of privilege so they are ready to be as cutthroat as their fathers. But surviving such elite trials often convinces people like Donald Trump, Charles Koch, and Brett Kavanaugh that they are where they are solely because they worked their respective tails off.”

“In boiling times like ours, supremacist thinking is contagious. When elites indulge their ugliest beliefs about their divine right to keep winning, it trickles down, giving their supporters license to assume their own imagined superior status — over anyone who seems sufficiently undefended.”

Alls Mueller has to do is ask the right question and the dumb egotistical asshole will start talking. Donald Trump’s mouth is his asshole and he gets frequent runs of the mouth.

Oh let the stuffed suits and hired mouth pieces answer the questions for trumpy bear. And then when indicted and under oath before judge and grand jury he will lie lie lie. The overwhelming evidence, facts, and truth cannot be denied. Trump is so gulty of so many crimes it is amazing. Who the hell vetted him to even be on the ballot. The FEC? where is the background check of trump? where is his tax returns? Financial disclosures? Trump and his criminal family is not above the law and they will soon find out. Mueller is letting them dig themselves in deep. They will never recover.

The responses will be “lock her up”, “fake news”, etc.
    The usual demagogue BS.

It can hardly be called an investigation without an interview of the suspect, however phony it is. This is a formality, Mueller has carried on without it but it had to be done.

I’m guessing this means that the end of one arm of the investigation has arrived.

Every answer was the same …….. “‘I don’t recall”

  9. bread crumbs October 13, 2018 at 8:17 am

this is put out by someone on Trump’s side or team — whatever you want to call it — with some agenda.”
“I have never done a written interview, I don’t know any prosecutor who has or would ever want to,” “I think this just is a compromise, I think if he really needed the interview — the information from Trump on the collusion piece — he would … make him come in for an interview by subpoena and fight over a subpoena if he had to.”

  10. Arrrgh! October 13, 2018 at 9:01 am

I am surprised that his hired suits are willing to answer the questions for him. Does anyone here actually believe that they (the hired suits) are being told the truth by him? Does anyone here believe they will tell the truth? IOW, don’t these hired suits get into hot water and potentially risk their jobs by being proven to potentially lie for this A$$hat?

    It won’t save him.

First, the lawyers can’t contradict anything he’s already said on video, by tweet or in an interview. No mean feat.

Second, Trump will have to study their written statements so that should he be interviewed in the future he won’t contradict what the lawyers said.

He’s toast. Not that Congress seems to give a damn about PERJURY any more but the public does.
