The White House rebuffed efforts by DHS to make fighting domestic terrorism a priority.

Not surprised by this at all.

Courtesy of CNN:

White House officials rebuffed efforts by their colleagues at the Department of Homeland Security for more than a year to make combating domestic terror threats, such as those from white supremacists, a greater priority as specifically spelled out in the National Counterterrorism Strategy, current and former senior administration officials as well as other sources close to the Trump administration tell CNN.

“Homeland Security officials battled the White House for more than a year to get them to focus more on domestic terrorism,” one senior source close to the Trump administration tells CNN. “The White House wanted to focus only on the jihadist threat which, while serious, ignored the reality that racial supremacist violence was rising fast here at home. They had major ideological blinders on.”
The National Counterterrorism Strategy, issued last fall, states that “Radical Islamist terrorists remain the primary transnational terrorist threat to the United States and its vital national interests,” which few experts dispute. What seems glaring to these officials is the minimizing of the threat of domestic terrorism, which they say was on their radar as a growing problem.

“Ultimately the White House just added one paragraph about domestic terrorism as a throw-away line,” a senior source involved in the discussion told CNN. That paragraph mentions “other forms of violent extremism, such as racially motivated extremism, animal rights extremism, environmental extremism, sovereign citizen extremism, and militia extremism.” It made no mention of white supremacists. (A separate paragraph in the report mentions investigating domestic terrorists with connections to overseas terrorists, but that does not seem to be a reference to white supremacists.)

The document mentions that domestic terrorism is on the rise, but the subject is only briefly addressed, all the more stark given that FBI Director Christopher Wray’s July testimony that there have been almost as many domestic terror arrests in the first three quarters of the fiscal year — about 100 — as there have been arrests connected to international terror. Wray noted that the majority of the domestic terrorism cases were motivated by some version of white supremacist violence, adding that the FBI takes the threat “extremely seriously.”

This seems to go hand in hand with a report from the Washington Post a few days ago claiming that the FBI it reticent to investigate white nationalists because they are considered Trump’s base.

It appears that there are some government agencies which understand completely how dangerous these potential domestic terrorists are, but that the lack of support from the White House has left them feeling that their hands tied.

This essentially means that the next domestic terrorist attack perpetrated by White Supremacists will come to us courtesy of the White House.

“The NRA has faced growing scrutiny as mass shootings continue to rattle the nation.

Just last year, LaPierre said he feared he would be targeted after the shooting in Parkland, Florida at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and sought to purchase a luxury mansion with the nonprofit’s funds.

He said he needed a more secure place to live with growing threats.

The NRA’s president was ousted in April after holding the position for only a year.

Oliver North, now the former president of the NRA, allegedly had some internal fighting with LaPierre and was accused of trying to extort the nonprofit’s executive to get him to depart with the NRA.

Democrats are also worried about Republican links to the gun rights advocacy group, especially since the NRA is one of the GOP’s biggest financial supporters.

A Republican strategist said “infighting and accusations”at the NRA will “have an impact in the NRA’s ability to raise money, which would be used in elections to turn out its membership.”
“Crisis-hit NRA chief Wayne LaPierre calls Donald Trump to tell him NOT to support background checks in wake of mass shootings and warns president it will turn his base against him”

    People are fed up!

Someone in the audience noted that Trump seems to incite racism.

“The president of the United States, as far as I know, hasn’t shot anyone,” Stewart argued.

“Charles Manson never shot anyone either,” a man yelled at Stewart.

In his editorial, Park decries America’s diplomat corps for passively following orders that they believe are morally wrong.

“The Complacent State sighs when the president blocks travel by Muslim immigrants; shakes its head when he defends Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman; averts its gaze from images of children in detention camps,” Park writes. “Then it complies with orders.”

Park goes on to document how the State Department has been twisted to suit Trump’s purposes with little internal resistance.

“Every day, we refuse visas based on administration priorities,” he writes. “We recite administration talking points on border security, immigration and trade. We plan travel itineraries, book meetings and literally hold doors open for the appointees who push Trump’s toxic agenda around the world.”

What “they” fail to realize is that these mass shooting are NOT going to stop, and the “we’re working on it” is such a pile of crap when they are doing absolutely nothing. I don’t want to hear the tired rhetoric, of which I can darned near recite word for word along with them, I want some ACTION . Remember when it was called, “going postal?” That was in 1993.
