The return of the best show on television.

I have waited almost two years to see this final season of GOT, and I would not be more stoked.

I have had a lot of favorite TV shows over the years, but this one beats them all.

Not one single episode has been a dud, and even though they killed off some of my favorite characters it never broke my heart enough to keep me from watching the very next episode.

I have spent this last week binge watching the last few seasons and I am about as amped up as I can get.

If you are not yet quite with me yet perhaps this video of the cast sharing their memories of the show will get you there.

And now our long wait is over.

I’ll likely be flamed or banned for this contrary view, but . . .

My daughter is a GOT fan. Over the years, if she visited us when an episode was scheduled, I watched it with her. My conclusion after watching a few episodes was that the show is trash serving only as a conduit for gratuitous nudity, obscene language and violence (Mind you, I’m an old soldier with three tours in the bush in Vietnam — I know violence, nudity and obscene language and have no problem with either in their place). Visited her over the weekend and she was binge-watching the past season. Watched a couple of episodes with her, that was enough.

Ditto for The Handmaid’s Tale. Watched the first two episodes and that was that.

To each his own, I guess.

Don’t see the attraction in either of them.

    This Is REAL.

    https://www.pbs.org/wnet/amanpour-and-company/video/dr-homer-venters-life-and-death-rikers-island-hlzoba/

HIS LATEST BOOK ‘LIFE AND DEATH IN RIKERS ISLAND’ EXPOSES THE EXTREME HEALTH RISKS INMATES AND STAFF FACE AND HOW BRUTALITY AND ABUSE HAVE BECOME COMMON PLACE IN AN INSTITUTION THAT’S BURSTING AT THE SEAMS.

SO IF SOMEBODY IS BEING RESTRAINED BY OFFICERS, AND THEN SOMETHING IS SHOVED INTO THEIR RECTUM OR THEY’RE HIT IN THE GROIN OR THERE’S A LOT OF COMMENTS ABOUT THEM SEXUALLY AND THEN THERE’S SOME SORT OF SEXUAL TOUCHING, ALL OF THAT IS VERY EXPLICIT, POWER DYNAMIC BEING USED TO HUMILIATE, AND SO THAT IS THE MORE SOMEBODY INTERACTS IN THIS PHYSICAL FORCE DOMAIN, THE MORE WE SEE THAT THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR DEGRADATION THAT’S NOT JUST ABOUT PHYSICAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA AND IT’S ABOUT SEXUAL ABUSE.

WE HAVE 12 MILLION INCARCERATIONS A YEAR AND 11 MILLION ARE IN JAILS.

I only own two pieces of GOT merchandise. I have a t-shirt that says “Stick them with the pointy end.” Mostly because I think it’s funny and I used to fence in college.

I also own a pop-up GOT book because I collect children’s picture books, some of which are pop up books and the architecture for pop up books have really advanced in the last decade. My GOT pop up book was expensive but it is totally awesome. Not only is there a pop up for every kingdom but the spine is held in place magnetically and when you open it all of the pages can be folded out flat to create a map of Westeros. It is by far my best and most intricate pop-up book. The same designer did Harry Potter but that book isn’t close to being as impressive. Sadly the pop-up is not out of print and hideously expensive on the secondary market. I was lucky to buy mine when I did.

I’m currently watching Knightfall on the History Channel. And the difference in quality and production values is so painful. But I guess Knightful doesn’t have close to the budget and the story line just isn’t as riveting.

There are only a handful of episodes left for GOT so I expect the action to accelerate to the final conclusion. We’ve had seven seasons to set up this finale. Now it only remains to tie everything up and they’re not wasting any time.

Once it concludes, you bet I will be buying the DVD set for this. I don’t buy a lot of DVDs of movies are TV series so I am very selective but I have been planning on buying GOT once it ended since the first season, it is that good. And it has maintained it’s high quality throughout. There was no bad season. There have been no bad episodes. No duds.

The intensity will only increase as we approach the end.

I am hoping for the classic heroic ending for epics with the evil being punished and the good remaining triumphant.

(I am stoked that I have a Drogan on my family tree. I’ve been tracing my genealogy and when I came across the name I just laughed.)

Hey Gryph — I don’t know if you saw this on Dakota’s instagram, but he’s engaged! https://www.instagram.com/p/BwSB165BVm9/ Ouch for you-know-who! How many months is it since the divorce was final?
