Hang on folks, this is going to be a bumpy ride.

The House Judiciary Committee is now engaged in a full-blown investigation and legal fight with the goal of deciding whether to recommend articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump by the end of the year, according to Democratic officials involved in the effort.
Recent court filings and public statements by top Democrats point to a dramatic escalation after lawmakers debated internally for months over mounting an impeachment inquiry into the President.
As additional House Democrats continue to call for the House Judiciary Committee to launch an impeachment inquiry — which more than half the caucus now supports — Democratic sources say the issue is essentially moot since what the panel is doing is basically that: investigating whether Trump should be impeached.
The more aggressive posture could help House Democrats convince the courts to side with them in their legal battles with the Trump administration. But it still remains to be seen whether it ultimately leads to the House taking the historic step of making Trump just the third president to be impeached.
The House Judiciary is also asking a federal judge to force former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify.

The House Judiciary Committee asked a federal judge on Wednesday to compel testimony from former White House counsel Donald McGahn, whom lawmakers consider their “most important” witness in any potential impeachment proceeding against President Trump.
McGahn figured prominently in special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation of whether Trump obstructed justice during the Justice Department’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election. The committee subpoenaed him in April, but the White House blocked his testimony, claiming McGahn, who left the administration in October, had “absolute” immunity.
Lawyers for the committee’s Democrats call the claim “spurious” and say it has no grounding in case law.
The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, escalates the months-long feud between congressional Democrats and the president. It marks the first lawsuit Democrats have filed to force a witness to testify since they regained control of the House last fall and launched investigations into the president’s conduct and finances.
One thing you can say for the Democrats in Washington is that they are not dicking around here.
They are clearly serious about holding this president accountable and could not care less whether he wants to be held accountable or not.
Like I mentioned in a post last night I watched Jerry Nadler on the Rachel Maddow show making the announcement about impeachment, and then changed the channel to see what Fox News was talking about and Sean Hannity was announcing the end of the Russia investigation and claiming that the whole thing blew up.
It is like watching two entirely different versions of reality, however only one of them contains any actual reality.
