The CIA concludes that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia ordered the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

Gee, ya think?

The CIA has concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul last month, contradicting the Saudi government’s claims that he was not involved in the killing, according to people familiar with the matter.

The CIA’s assessment, in which officials have said they have high confidence, is the most definitive to date linking Mohammed to the operation and complicates the Trump administration’s efforts to preserve its relationship with a close ally. A team of 15 Saudi agents flew to Istanbul on government aircraft in October and killed Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate, where he had come to pick up documents that he needed for his planned marriage to a Turkish woman.

In reaching its conclusions, the CIA examined multiple sources of intelligence, including a phone call that the prince’s brother Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi ambassador to the United States, had with Khashoggi, according to the people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the intelligence. Khalid told Khashoggi, a contributing columnist to The Washington Post, that he should go to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to retrieve the documents and gave him assurances that it would be safe to do so.

It is not clear if Khalid knew that Khashoggi would be killed, but he made the call at his brother’s direction, according to the people familiar with the call, which was intercepted by U.S. intelligence.

Of course, the Saudis continue to deny this, but it is going to be much harder for Trump to give them the benefit of the doubt if his own CIA says they did it, and that their Crown Prince ordered it.

Just recently we learned that the Trump Administration considered surrendering an American resident to Turkey to be imprisoned or killed, in order to convince them to stop accusing the Saudis of murder, and now our own CIA is saying “Oh yeah, they murdered him.”

It is becoming increasingly difficult to make this administration look any worse, but revealing that they considered helping the Saudis cover up the murder of a journalist and American resident, certainly accomplishes that.

“A symbolic funeral in Istanbul for murdered Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi drew thousands of mourners.
While Saudi prosecutors seek the death penalty for five suspects,”

““We’re not just the lawyers for the government of Saudi Arabia, we’re the Michael Cohen of the government of Saudi Arabia,” Nance said. “There is no way that money is not exchanging hands. This isn’t interest, this has to be some form of bribery going on there, because why would we ever compromise this moral standing that we have held for 200 years within a year?”GOOD QUE$TION.

Trump said he is going to talk to the CIA. Love to be a fly on the wall during that convo. This is the worst of the worst. I am sickened by this murder. We all should be horrified and if there isn’t clear punitive action taken we all are so screwed.

Trump says the Saudis are a spectacular ally who give us lots of jobs and money. Everyone knows that’s all that matters, right? No wonder this POS MBS thought he could get away with a murder. Trump will allow it, because he cares about nothing but money.
    He disgusts me.

He’s in California now where he’s opining to Jerry Brown about the cause of wildfires.
Brown and Newsome actually look like they’re in agony having that hateful sack of shit out there. CA needs the disaster money though, and Trump is enough of a pig to withhold it if he feels insulted or threatened. God what a nightmare this is for our country.

““We’ve got to take care of the floors, you know the floors of the forest, very important,” he continued. “You look at other countries where they do it differently and it’s a whole different story. I was with the president of Finland and he said… we’re a forest nation, he called it a forest nation, and they spend a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things. They don’t have any problem, and what it is, ~IT~’s a very small problem.”
“~IT~ was perhaps not surprising that Trump said in an interview set to air in full on Fox News Sunday that the purpose of his trip was “just to see the firefighters.”
“Maybe [climate change] contributes a little bit. The big problem we have is management,” Trump said in the Fox News Sunday interview prior to visiting California. “You need forest management. It has to be. I’m not saying that in a negative way, a positive — I’m just saying the facts. And I’ve really learned a lot.”
Trump was asked about the role of climate change in devastating wildfires like the Camp Fire. “You have a lot of factors. You have the management factor… Right now that seems to be a very big problem and we’re going to get that problem solved,” ““Does seeing the devastation change your opinion at all on climate change, Mr. President?” a reporter then asked. “No, no. I have a strong opinion,” “I want great climate, we’re going to have that, and we’re going to have forests that are very safe because we can’t go through this every year.””

““The Saudi government is going to rush to execute some these henchmen who carried out MBS’ orders to protect MBS,”
“And then it will be much harder to get the ironclad evidence that will stand up in court.”

There is bipartisan support for holding MBS, , but Trump stands in the way.

“Clearly President Trump doesn’t care about this murder, he doesn’t care about morality in foreign policy or standing up for a free press,”
“He’s looking for excuses to essentially protect the crown price, who had forged a close relationship with the American crown price, Jared Kushner.”

“We have the tape. I don’t want to hear the tape. No reason for me to hear the tape,” Trump said on Fox News Sunday. “It’s a suffering tape. It’s a terrible tape. I’ve been fully briefed on it. There’s no reason for me to hear it. … It was very violent, very vicious, and terrible.”
