Republicans get very defensive when you suggest taking their precious Ar-15s.

A Texas state representative is under fire after tweeting, “My AR is waiting for you” at Beto O’Rourke, shortly after the Democratic presidential candidate endorsed mandatory buybacks of assault-style weapons during the third Democratic debate Thursday night.

“Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” O’Rourke declared to the audience in Houston, Texas, while describing how such weapons are designed for combat and should therefore not be in the hands of everyday gun owners. “We’re not going to allow it to be used against our fellow Americans anymore.”

But as the remarks, which drew loud applause, reverberated on social media, Republican Briscoe Cain, who has served in the Texas House of Representatives since 2016, made his contempt for the proposal clear:

Yeah, that’s a threat. There is no other way to interpret it.

No Texas Republican is going to tweet out that his AR-15 is ready for O’Rourke to just pick up and take away, so clearly he meant that he would use his weapon to stop whichever law enforcement official did show up to take his guns

Which, I’m not going to lie, seems like the EXACT reason why you should not have a weapon like that.

Of course, this Brisco Cain douche tried to play it off as if O’Rourke was overreacting.

It was reported that O’Rourke’s campaign notified the FBI concerning this threat.

I imagine they are well prepared to deal with a man who may respond to authority by pointing a military style weapon at officers of the law.

Good for Beto, it was a threat and it is about time these clowns called republicans are held accountable for their words and actions.

they have been getting off too easily with their go to excuse ” I was only joking” Enough of this crap. Let the FBI go knocking on the door of “little big man with his AR” and make him sweat a bit by hauling him down to FBI office.

It is insane that private citizens can own these weapons, whose primary purpose is to kill people quickly during a war. I get that people might like shooting targets, and might like to try out different guns. So why not make AR15’s only available to gun ranges with a special permit and make sure to stipulate they are not to be taken out of the shooting range. I think that’s a decent compromise for people who are really into recreational shooting.

Of course, I imagine that’s not why most people own ARs.

I hear that many people say briscoe has a small mind, much like other parts of his person, hence the tough, big man talk. Poor, sad little man. Lock him up!
