Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was forced out of the D.C. restaurant Fiola on Monday night by protesters denouncing his friendship with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. An activist group posted a video on Twitter showing Cruz and his wife being chased out of the restaurant by protesters chanting “We believe survivors!” At one point, a man tells Cruz that Beto O’Rourke, the Democrat running against him in November, is “way hotter” than him. Another asks if he will “confirm [his] best friend Brett Kavanaugh?” Cruz then tells the loud crowd “God bless you” and asks them to let his wife through. In a separate clip, a woman claiming to be his constituent asks him how he will vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation and if he “believes survivors.” Cruz responds, “God bless you, ma’am.” Protesters also gathered outside Cruz’s Austin office earlier Monday to support Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez, who have both accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.

I support the rights of people to protest, and I certainly despise Ted Cruz, but I have to say that this public shaming still makes me uncomfortable.

It’s just not my style, and I worry that it makes us look a little out of control.

I am all in favor of showing up to town halls and asking him tough questions, protesting outside of his office, and filling his email box with demands that he vote no on Kavanaugh, but let the man eat.

Sorry, don’t mean to be a buzzkill, but that is what I think.

Feel free to disagree with me.

Actually, I don’t disagree with you at all, Gryphen. i must say though, if I had been present at the $145.00 prix fixe restaurant that evening, my meal would have been spoiled just by knowing that Cruz was there too but I would have chosen to ignore his presence. And it may have made me decide never to eat there again although, in truth, the idea of a $145.00 prix fixe would have kept me away to begin with. Cruz must have lots of money – most likely from his PAC and big donors.

“Not right that Senator Cruz and his wife Heidi were surrounded and forced to leave a restaurant last night because of protesters. The Cruz family should be treated with respect.”< Beto tweet yesterday

They should force him out of the senate by voting him out.

While I don’t disagree with you Gryphen I also don’t feel too badly for him either.
That said, Cruz can’t eat out in Texas and now he can’t eat out in DC…..that’s gotta be some type of karma.

Hey, Rafael Cruz. You ever considered Rachael Ray, Allrecipies and Food Network magazines like a lot of us have to because of you?

Problem is so many Rs canceled town halls and ran/hid from their constituents, they have forced us t confront them in places we normally wouldn’t.

Awww. You can’t feel anything for that face. It’s like Donald. When he has what’s coming to him at the end, we gotta remember what he did to those poor kids that he separated from their parents. Feeling any contrition or moral conscience twinges regarding Ted and Donald is like feeling sorry for Hilter or Putin. No can do, Mr. Magoo.

I personally would never act that way in a restaurant but when someone like Cruz is a total POS then it warms my heart that he does get chased out of a restaurant. He should be hiding in shame for what he represents. Besides, his best buddy Donald says his dad participated in the assassination of JFK and he has an ugly wife but Rafael still supports him. Go figure. BETO is a better man than I.
