That is not his damn job.

The U.S. State Department’s main homepage was updated on Monday to show a photo of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with the headline: “Being A Christian Leader.”

The phrase refers to a speech he gave in Nashville last week:

“As believers, we draw on the wisdom of God to help us get it right, to be a force for good in the life of human beings,” Pompeo said in the speech, according to the rest of the remarks on the State Department website. “I know some people in the media will break out the pitchforks when they hear that I ask God for direction in my work.”

The headline on the State Department homepage was changed later in the day to read: “Secretary Pompeo at the America Association of Christian Counselors.” By nighttime, the page was changed completely to a report about sanctions against Turkey.

Okay that is now Bill Barr attacking secularists for “organized destruction of religion,” Donald Trump being publicly prayed over by evangelical leaders, and now Mike Pompeo allowing hmself to be labeled a Christian leader on an official government website.

That feels to me as if the Trump Administration is conducting a directed outreach to the Evangelicals to secure their support in the face of the impeachment vote that is likely only a week or so away.

It’s been reported that Pompeo has 2024 White House ambitions. I pray that he’s going down with Donald Trump along with the other Christian, Mike “I call my wife, Mother” Pence.

“The efforts of Trump’s henchmen to use the specter of secularism to distract people from their boss’ sins probably won’t work,” Krugman asserts.
“But I could be wrong. And if I am wrong — if religious bigotry turns out to be a winning strategy — all I can say is, God help us.”

Trump is guilty of everything Bill Barr decried in his Bible-thumping speech: Columnist

“Amid calling for greater freedom of religion, Barr also called for religion (his religion) to infiltrate government at all levels. He specifically decried the fact that ‘public agencies — including public schools — are becoming secularized,’” wrote Rampell. “Militant secularism, he said, is to blame for the country’s greatest ills, including drug use, mental illness and ‘an increase in senseless violence.’ Given such crises, Barr urged his audience to fight back against ‘so-called ‘progressives” and others who insist upon respecting America’s pesky, constitutionally mandated separation of church and state.”

Bill Barr slammed for his ‘incredibly disturbing’ — and false — attack on secularism

….Responding to Barr’s speech, American Atheists president Nick Fish fired off a letter to the Justice Department this Monday, sharply criticizing Barr’s suggestion that people who lack religion are contributing to moral decay.

“It is curious that you blame violence on the rise of secularism in the United States,” Fish wrote. “To the contrary, as Attorney General, you no doubt know that according to data published by the FBI, the rate of violent crime in the United States has fallen by 49% since 1993. The timeline of this fall in violent crime correlates to the explosive growth of secularism in the United States.”

“If Barr is looking for someone to blame for undermining the American family, he should look no further than his administration’s repeated actions which have prevented loving, qualified parents from adopting simply because they are non-religious, members of the ‘wrong’ religion, or LGBTQ,” he continued. “Under Barr’s leadership, the Department of Justice has consistently sided with those who use religion as an excuse to ignore the laws and who demand taxpayer money to fund their discrimination.”

“For the chief law enforcement officer in the United States to scapegoat 75 million non-religious Americans for all of society’s problems is incredibly disturbing. By trafficking in stereotypes, AG Barr is harming atheists and the nonreligious and making life even more difficult for a group that is already among the least trusted in the country.”

The evangelicals have proved that they are willing to bow to any god to save their self appointed throne on the heirarchy of superiority that they are afflicted with night and day. They have basically sold their souls to hasten the second coming. Sad.
