Somebody set fire to the restaurant at the cent of the “Pizza-gate” conspiracy theory.

An arsonist allegedly started a fire Wednesday night at Comet Ping Pong, the Washington, D.C. pizzeria that was targeted by internet hoaxers as part of the “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory.

According to a police report, an unidentified person set a curtain in the back of the restaurant on fire around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday. Comet staffers used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Arson investigators discovered burned matches and a bottle of charcoal lighter fluid next to the curtain, leading to a “unanimous” decision that the fire was caused by arson, according to police.

Several prank calls were made to the restaurant earlier in the night, the Washington Post reported.

Internet conspiracy theorists claimed in 2016, without any evidence, that the restaurant was a front for a pedophile sex ring run by Hillary Clinton and other top Democrats. In Dec. 2016, Edgar Maddison Welch, 28, from North Carolina, fired several shots inside Comet after conspiracy theories online convinced him that restaurant housed a child-sex dungeon.

And now the place has suffered fire damage, all because some trolls decided to start making shit up on the internet.

Just a reminder that words have consequences, and that there are a lot of truly stupid people in the world who believe almost anything.

It was likely a supporter of Roger Stone who tried (thankfully with no success) to burn the place down. In the meantime, the third wife is going to get “substantial” damages as a result of various stories that appeared in at least one British tabloid. She’s been awarded damages before and I’ve wondered what she, a rich woman already, does with these damages that she collects along the way.

I’m still wondering what third wife actually ‘does.’

One item that was supposedly false was her parents and sister live in a trump property, since when is trump tower not a trump property?
Or is this a “semantics issue”, his name is on the building but he doesn’t own it?

Why doesn’t she give the money to an anti bullying charity:)

Wasn’t there something in the conspiracy that they were holding the kids/women hostage in the basement.. so they really don’t care about them if the set the place on fire.

I feel really sorry for the owner… wish he could sue those perpetrating this hoax.

“Women are tied up, they’re bound, duct tape put around their faces, around their mouths,” Trump riffed. “In many cases they can’t even breathe. They’re put in the backs of cars, or vans or trucks.”
“They don’t go through your port of entry. They make a right turn going very quickly. They go into the desert areas, or whatever areas you can look at, and as soon as there is no protection they make a left or a right into the United States of America.”

I wonder if the arsonist ordered The Matchpoint? LOL. But seriously, this is a shame. I can’t imagine having my business targeted in such a way. Hope the guy gets caught asap.

I thought Miami-based columnist Leonard Pitts put it most succinctly last spring:

In a nation where climate change is a hoax,
but the Hillary Clinton pedophile ring is real,
a nation where trust in news media is on the decline,
but measles is staging a comeback, is a nation sowing the seeds of its own demise.
Worse, it is a nation spoiling for a hard lesson from an unforgiving teacher.

See, you and I can ignore reality all we wish. Reality will never return the favor.

Can Alex Jones be sued for this? Please tell me he can have another lawsuit on his hands.
