So Donald Trump started his day by attacking France, and lying about why he did not honor our fallen soldiers.

They were “starting to learn German before America” came along?

Damn, that’s cold.

Perhaps somebody should tell Trump that France provided invaluable help during the Revolutionary War, and if it were not for them we might have had to learn how to speak English. Wait…

Make France great again?

So does that mean that Trump wants Macron to turn France’s allies against them, start kissing Putin’s ass, lie up to thirty times a day, and start attacking the free press as the enemy of the people?

Or is there some other version of MAGA that I have not yet seen?

Speaking of lying, this was what Trump tweeted in order to provide cover for his biggest blunder over the weekend.

Yeah, okay.

There actually was reporting on that visit to the Suresnes American Cemetery in France.

And it also includes video.

As you can see there was some light sprinkling, not the kind of rain that seems to terrify Trump and keep him indoors.

Once again his bullshit excuse is revealed to be bullshit.

“I mentioned the top aides are being sued as well,” he said. “It is not just President Trump. It’s John Kelly, Sarah Sanders, Bill Shine, the head of the Secret Service and the officer who actually took away the hard pass last week.”

    “Vive la France”

“Trump also admitted on Friday that Acosta’s press pass was pulled because he does not “treat the presidency with respect” and threatened to withdraw passes from other journalists he considers belligerent questioners. He went on to hurl insults at another reporter, April Ryan, a respected veteran White House reporter who is black and whom he had refused to allow even to pose a question during Wednesday’s press conference. On Friday, Trump also verbally abused another black journalist, Abby Phillip (also of CNN), calling her entirely reasonable question about the new acting attorney general and the Mueller investigation “stupid.” “41 years ago that the Secret Service cannot deny a journalist White House press credentials absent a compelling purpose—and certainly cannot do so because the president is not a fan of a journalist’s reporting.”

        • Anon November 13, 2018 at 10:15 am

““After Mr. Acosta asked the President two questions ― each of which the President answered ― he physically refused to surrender a White House microphone to an intern, so that other reporters might ask their questions,” the White House said Tuesday.”
“CNN called the revocation of its reporter’s credentials a “wrongful” violation of the First Amendment.
“If left unchallenged, the actions of the White House would create a dangerous chilling effect for any journalist who covers our elected officials,” the network said in a statement on Tuesday. “

Anon at 7:31 am. I would argue that Don the Con does not “treat the presidency with respect’ and I would include it in my personal grounds for impeaching him. He has sullied and stained the reputation of the Office of the President and the White House ever since he took his oath of office.

          • Anonymous November 13, 2018 at 11:15 am

I was going to write the same comment as 10:46 adding that all he has done is make money off the presidency hence cheapening the position!

        • Anonymous November 13, 2018 at 9:09 pm

That was before Trump had five Supreme Court Justices in his pocket.

I was thinking last night of the heroic firefighters in California and how they just keep struggling on and on against these fires. There are people battling the fires from other states as well – doing what Americans do when the need is there. If President Obama were still in office, he would be sending as much federal help as humanly possible and supporting the people in the first line of defense.

Unfortunately the US president now is a blithering idiot, consumed with self-regard and hatred of everyone else. He was a disaster last weekend for refusing to step out of his ongoing temper tantrum and rage that has engulfed him and depressed the rest of us since the day he took office. When he finally spoke at a WWI cemetery in Paris, he had the nerve to whine that the veterans assembled there were sheltered by a tent but that he was getting soaked in the rain! He could have held his umbrella over his head while he made his remarks. And no one should waste a nanosecond wondering if he cares about the lives lost during WWI or at any time. Not our Donald. He only cares about himself. Why in the world did he ever run for president if he finds it such an odious chore?

What We’ve Learned — And What We Haven’t — In The 100 Years Since WWI Ended

Timothy Snyder says that “liberalism and democracy don’t defend themselves.”

“We have to CARE about Values.”

That needs to be changed to LEARN and never forget.

How many people in the U.S. remember what the red poppy represents or what Armistice Day is?

Was Putin at the cemetery or in a “meeting” to plot the end of the USA in trump’s hotel room.

I am assuming the porn model wife was out shopping, guess she still hasn’t gotten the memo from his campaign BUY American, we do have American designers but guess they aren’t good enough for someone that is use to posing naked.

There was NOT zero visibility, not enough rain/no fog to interfere with anything.

In that picture, why is don using Bristol’s IUD to protect himself from the rain?

  9. Anonymous November 13, 2018 at 9:03 am

If you can’t even be bothered to visit Arlington National Cemetery, on VETERANS DAY for kryst’s sake, you can’t live in the people’s house. It’s that simple.
    BTW, off(P)ence didn’t visit either.
Busy skiving off in France on Sunday? Then you can damn well go on Monday (when he most def was back in the WH).
I am picturing the Obama art that says “Hope” except it has a graphic of drumph and says “NOPE.”

““His lawyer just had a call with special counsel’s office. He won’t tell me what transpired in that call.

“Get out of town. Is he going to pay you back for that ride?” Ruhle asked as the entire panel broke out in laughter.
“I’m sorry, if I knew that was happening, I’d have been hanging outside 30 Rock all morning.””

“Mueller’s prosecutors have questioned several associates of Stone over his contacts with WikiLeaks and its founder Julian Assange. They are probing whether Stone had advance access to emails hacked from the Democratic Party and the account of John Podesta, campaign chairman of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and obtained by Wikileaks.”
“Corsi is of interest to Mueller because he provided research to Stone during the campaign. Stone has said that one of his most scrutinized comments — a tweet in August 2016 predicting that it would soon be the Podestas’ “time in the barrel” — was based on Corsi’s research about John Podesta and his brother.

Six weeks after that tweet, Wikileaks began to release the emails from John Podesta’s account online.”

    “cemetary”?…jeez. Cemetery!
He reads haltingly, like a 9-year-old.

He learned nothing by all the bad press and mocking he got in Paris,
and didn’t go to Arlington either. He doesn’t like to honor sacrifice
which I suspect he regards as being a chump. Ironic, when he’s Putin’s chump.

“you have absolutely no idea what it’s like to fight for existence, as they did in both world wars, you nationalist armchair quarterback.”
“Yes. It was Germany in World War 1 and World War II. And for some reason Germany hasn’t attacked anybody since. I wonder what the reason could be… Maybe, NATO? Something we pay for to keep stability in Europe thus saving us trillions. Read a book.”

BTW, do you think Marine One never flies from the White House to Andrews AFB in the rain?
Yeah, that is EXACTLY how silly this excuse is.

    • Anonymous November 13, 2018 at 11:17 am

If it was a golf outing, I bet it does.. and since when do helicopters NOT fly in the rain?

  14. puck November 13, 2018 at 12:13 pm

This article was amended on 13 November 2018 to change our translation of “c’est pas grave” from “it’s not serious” to “it’s no big deal”, which is a more idiomatic translation.
“Dispensing with his umbrella mid-speech, the Canadian prime minister said: “As we sit here in the rain, thinking how uncomfortable we must be these minutes as our suits get wet, and our hair gets wet … it’s all the more fitting that we remember on that day in Dieppe the rain wasn’t rain, it was bullets.””

OT? “In the leaked chat logs, user “johnolithic” shared a photo of what appeared to be a homemade bomb after the “Unite the Right 2” rally in Washington, D.C. in 2018.
“Got something cooked up for next time,” the user wrote.
“In the chat log’s “activism” channel, user “Iron Eagle” — who claimed to be an active duty soldier and military police member —claimed to have stolen an Israeli flag and some mail from a Jewish couple’s yard” “The group uses the swastika and the Wolfsangel, a symbol used by the deadly Aryan Nations group.
