Multiple people were shot and killed at a Walmart in El Paso on Saturday afternoon, sending shoppers inside and at a local mall racing for cover in a chaotic scene that prompted a massive police and medical response, local authorities and government officials said.
Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick told Fox News that a 21-year-old man is in custody in connection with the shooting, which unfolded in the area of Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso. As many as 20 people are dead, Patrick said.
Authorities said around 3 p.m. Eastern time that there were was no longer an active threat. There was conflicting information about the number of suspects. While police said one suspect was in custody, El Paso’s mayor said there were three.
“I can only say that we have one suspect in custody right now,” a police spokesman told reporters.
At the time of this post there is some confusion about the number of injured and the number of fatalities.
There were also earlier reports of multiple shooters but only one individual has been taken into custody.
It has been confirmed that the individual who has been arrested is a white male, whose social media accounts indicate support for Donald Trump, and who used an AK47 or similar type weapon to kill and injure multiple people.
Trump, by the way, has already offered his half-hearted condolences.
Terrible shootings in ElPaso, Texas. Reports are very bad, many killed. Working with State and Local authorities, and Law Enforcement. Spoke to Governor to pledge total support of Federal Government. God be with you all!

He was golfing again today so what more could you really expect?
Beto O’Rourke offered a little more compassion.

A number of other 2020 candidates have chimed is as well, all of them demonstrating far more humanity than the orange tinted toddler.
However even Trump’s foot is not as deeply wedged in his mouth as the foot of Texas Goveror Greg Abbott.

Oh yeah, that’s definitely going to leave a mark.
At least one hero emerged from all of the chaos.
This African American is a superhero 🦸🏿♂️…

And look he did not even use his weapon to save those children.
I can only imagine how disappointing that must be for the NRA.

I see that Trump’s message is being received loud and clear.
