This is only the beginning.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) will break with President Trump and vote to reopen the government without funding for a border wall, his spokesman told The Denver Post editorial board.

Gardner is one of three Republicans expected to vote to advance the “clean” funding bill.

Gardner’s spokesman told the Denver Post that the senator planned to vote for a “clean funding bill … with no border-security funding attached.”

Gardner, who is up for re-election in 2020 in a state where Hillary Clinton defeated Trump in 2016, also intends to vote for a measure backed by Trump that the Senate will consider on Thursday.

Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) are also expected to vote for the “clean” funding bill.

“I’m in the camp of being happy that we’re going to be going to the floor and having an opportunity to vote on proceeding to anything,” Murkowski said. “I’m not very optimistic at its chance of passage but we’ve got to get ourselves off of dead center here.

I think having Nancy Pelosi slap his dick in public has destroyed Trump’s mythos as a strong alpha male.

He got wrecked and now people are seeing him for the phony that he is, and his chances of bullying them into compliance are diminishing by the day.

I do have to say that I am continuing to enjoy this rare sense of pride in one of my Senators.

I realize that it will not last for long but at least for the time being Senator Lisa Murkowski is not acting like a sheep.

I sure hope they vote to reopen the federal government with no strings, especially the wall-building string, attached. A little bit of courage is needed right now. Let’s see how many Republicans are up to it.

Now the kentuckians need to get that mitch to come out of shell of denial and passivity and put government back to work. But will they or will they be like trump and stay obstinate?

Per Daily Kos today, yesterday, after a large group of protesters were arrested outside Grand Turtle McConnell’s office, a photo was taken of the Grand Turtle himself strolling back to his office with two younger people, presumably staff members. All three were smiling broadly. What abominations these Republicans are!

Trump will not accept a short-term deal to reopen the government unless it includes “a large down payment” for his promised border wall.–politics.html

The Democrats are going to stay strong on this point, I read a few comments that they feel if they give in on this one, he will shut down the government again when he wants money for something else.

At least they have his number and are not giving in to his terrorist tactics.

Why didn’t he get his “large down payment” for his vanity wall when the republicans were is office? Did he forget about it until FOX news brought it up again?

By the way, what ever happened to the hordes of caravan people heading for the border? did they ever arrive?

Don’t count on Lisa to do the right thing unless it won’t change the outcome. She’s a Republican through and through but knows she was elected by moderates. She will always appear to do the right thing but when the chips are down, she will vote for the Republican plank. She will never be the swing vote to decide an issue against the Republican position on that issue.

She and Susan Collins are the same kind of Republican – always wanting to be seen as “moderate” but all the while voting with the rest of the GOP creeps.
