Senator Joni Ernst divorces husband, blames him for sabotaging her chance to be Trump’s VP.

Mike Pence almost lost out to a woman?

That’s gotta sting.

Courtesy of The Guardian:

The Iowa senator Joni Ernst has stated she turned down the opportunity to be Donald Trump’s vice-president because she believed her husband Gail “hated any successes I have”.

In an affidavit filed as part of divorce proceedings with her husband of 26 years, Ernst states: “in the summer of 2016, I was interviewed by Candidate Trump to be vice president of the United States. I turned Candidate Trump down, knowing it wasn’t the right thing for me or my family.

“I continued to make sacrifices and not soar higher out of concern for Gail and our family,” she added.

The Iowa Republican met with Trump in New Jersey at his Bedminister golf course on 4 July 2016 and gave a positive statement about the meeting. However, within two days, Ernst told Politico: “I made that very clear to him that I’m focused on Iowa. I feel that I have a lot more to do in the United States Senate. And Iowa is where my heart is.”

However, in the affidavit, Ernst points to a strained marriage as the reason for her decision. “Meanwhile, he hated any successes I had and would belittle me and get angry any time I achieved a goal,” she says.

Now see here is the part I find confusing.

Considering the shitstorm that defines this presidency, WHY would Ernst still hold hard feelings for not getting to be part of it?

Hell if a spouse of mine stopped me from boarding this Titanic of an administration, I would be offering to renew our vows rather than divorce their ass.

She, like everyone else, now knows that dumpster is going down and this would have been her one and only chance to be prez.
So she is pissed about not being VP. Deluded and sad? Sure. Hindsight wishful thinking? Uh, yeah.
She also already knows she is unlikely to be re-elected and, like dumpster, she has to blame it on someone, anyone else but herself.
    Typical rethuglican.

I think that you think that if Sarah Palin had been elected VP along with John McCain that she might have ended up president somehow. I think that you think that that was maybe one of the things Sarah ‘Queen Esther’ Palin and her religious nutter followers were thinking also too! Has Sarah ever truly gotten over having the White House door slammed in her face just before she stepped through? I don’t think so! Instead of Ivankkka dilling with all that governing stuff maybe it could have been Toad and the Stool keeping it all in the family right after John fell down running on some rocks and hurt his head??

So now it’s the seriously compromised and slipping Dolt 45 occupying the Oval Office…so what do you suppose Senator Earnst is hearing whispered in her little ears about Presidential succession and replacing the DOLT 45 and the weak tea of Mike Dense from Ohio? Capisce my friend?

(PS- at least they each had their own Hardly Ableson and Senator Earnst didn’t have to ride bitch like Sarah did!)

Thank heavens for marital discord. The guy knew what she was when he married her; I don’t feel sorry for either of them.

Joni Ernst tells Donald Trump to get tough domestic violence February 13 2018:

Sen. Joni Ernst said Tuesday she is “extremely disappointed” in the White House’s handling of allegations of spousal abuse against former aide Rob Porter, calling on President Donald Trump to more forcefully speak out on the scandal.

“I think he needs to send a stronger message, a stronger message,” Ernst said of Trump during an interview on CNN. “We need to allow women and men that have been abused to come out, make sure their stories are heard and believed.”

The Iowa Republican called on officials to send to send a “very clear signal” that domestic violence “won’t be tolerated with our employees.”

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Monday that Trump and the administration “take domestic violence very seriously” and that the president “above all … supports victims of domestic violence.”

Headlines January 23, 2019 (the day after it’s revealed there are domestic violence allegations in Senator Ernst’s divorce filings):

he Justice Department’s Office on Violence Against Women quietly but significantly redefined what it considers “domestic violence” and “sexual assault,” Natalie Nanasi wrote in Slate.

Nanasi, director of the Judge Elmo B. Hunter Legal Center for Victims of Crimes Against Women at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, pointed out that the moves were quietly made in back in April but could have significant repercussions for millions of domestic violence and sexual assault victims.

During the Obama administration, the definition was far more expansive and was vetted by domestic violence groups. The new definition seeks to limit forms of domestic violence to the kind of physical harm that warrants prosecution.

“The previous definition included critical components of the phenomenon that experts recognize as domestic abuse — a pattern of deliberate behavior, the dynamics of power and control, and behaviors that encompass physical or sexual violence as well as forms of emotional, economic, or psychological abuse,” Nanasi explained.

But the Trump Justice Department’s definition only considers physical harm that constitutes a felony or misdemeanor to be domestic violence, meaning that other forms of domestic violence like psychological abuse and manipulation no longer fall under the DOJ’s definition.

“This makes no sense for an office charged with funding and implementing solutions to the problem of domestic violence rather than merely prosecuting individual abusers,” Nanasi wrote.

At the same time, the OVW also changed its definition of “sexual assault” to similarly focus on the criminal justice aspects.

The new definition says “the term ‘sexual assault’ means any nonconsensual sexual act proscribed by Federal, tribal, or State law, including when the victim lacks capacity to consent.”

The previous definition was more expansive: “Sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient. Falling under the definition of sexual assault are sexual activities as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and attempted rape.”

Senator Ernst either has to call this out and get it addressed…or be revealed as yet another full of shit Trumper who can’t walk the walk.

Vashukevich became famous after posting videos allegedly showing tycoon Oleg Deripaska and an influential Russian deputy prime minister on a yacht.

While in Thai prison, she said she had information about Russian meddling in the 2016 US elections.

“I think there’s some growing uneasiness, but I think generally we’re just going to let things play out,” “With Trump in office another two years, “We’re going to see where this takes us.” “The intellectual property rights damage has been done — I’m not just talking about iPhones and iPads — they’re stealing seed genetics.”
To teach China a lesson, Walton says he is willing to suffer short-term pain in exchange for the long-term gain. “We can probably stand a couple of years of this at the most. We get into 2020, and it’ll start to get really difficult to stay in business.” “”Let’s see, Trump’s subsidy is a $1.65 per bushel,” Brian Wolken says, peering at his phone in the shadow of a grain bin full of beans. “And it’s all to keep the farmers happy because they voted for him.” “It’s unbelievable that the farmers in Iowa can still support Trump when it’s costing them thousands every week. I can’t believe that they’re that blind,” he shakes his head and sips his coffee. “The die-hards are just dying harder.”” “But farmers are the kind of people who decide to shoulder the load without complaint. They figure if we can get a better shake from China and maybe open up new countries to export beans, it’s going to be better for us in the long run.” “<RiiiggghhttT

Well since Joni says women who are victims of violence should NOT be believed unless they report immediately so I will suggest she just smile more then maybe if she was a better wife her husband would not have to have looked elsewhere. So the big issue was instead of being a good Christian wife and staying home to take care of the needs of her husband and children he wouldn’t have been forced to look for someone else to take care of his sexual needs………isn’t that what repugs say?

  8. Anonymous January 23, 2019 at 8:06 am

LOL, trump would NEVER pick a woman as a running mate.

Personally if I was Joni’s husband I would take the divorce and RUN as fast as I could in the opposite direction.

Doesn’t say too much about Joni either after all the stuff about trump assaulting women that she would even consider running with him,she should be thanking her husband instead of criticizing him for saving her from her stupidity.

“It’s outrageous to suggest that anyone who has been the victim of sexual assault should therefore be a Hillary Clinton supporter.”
