Peter Strzok, the agent who sent those anti-Trump text messages to his girlfriend, was fired from the FBI today.

Well, this should make Donald Trump’s day.

Courtesy of CNN:

The FBI has fired Peter Strzok, an agent who was removed from the Russia probe last year for sending text messages disparaging President Donald Trump, Strzok’s lawyer said Monday.

Aitan Goelman, Strzok’s attorney, said FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich ordered the agent’s termination on Friday. Goelman said that the deputy director’s decision comes after the head of the office that normally handles disciplinary actions decided Strzok should instead face a demotion and 60-day suspension.

“The decision to fire Special Agent Strzok is not only a departure from typical Bureau practice, but also contradicts (FBI) Director (Christopher) Wray’s testimony to Congress and his assurances that the FBI intended to follow its regular process in this and all personnel matters,” Goelman said in his statement.

Special counsel Robert Mueller removed Strzok from his team investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election last summer after an internal investigation first revealed texts with former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom Strzok had an extramarital affair, that could be read as exhibiting political bias.

According to this tweet, the Deputy FBI Director overruled a decision by the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility, who only suggested that Strzok be suspended, and had the agent fired.

Peter Trzok himself also had this to say:

Well put.

This firing today is clearly a political move designed to get Trump off the FBI’s back and to deflect criticism from his sycophants in the House.

It’s just another example of Trump undermining the authority of government agencies and forcing them to kiss his ring or suffer the wrath of Twitter.

Update: I thought this reminder belonged here.

tinydjt>”Agent Peter Strzok was just fired from the FBI – finally. The list of bad players in the FBI & DOJ gets longer & longer. Based on the fact that Strzok was in charge of the Witch Hunt, will it be dropped? It is a total Hoax. No Collusion, No Obstruction – I just fight back!

Trump really should be more careful about what he wishes for. Strzok is now a private citizen with free access to twitter and a boatload of knowledge.

“U.S. prosecutors on Monday rested their case against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort after 10 days of testimony detailing how he avoided taxes on at least $16 million of income and lied to banks to maintain an extravagant lifestyle once his work for pro-Kremlin politicians in Ukraine dried up.

More than two dozen witnesses painted a picture of Manafort, 69, as a lavish spender with little regard for the law. A political consultant in the Ukraine, Manafort stashed his money in 31 undisclosed offshore bank accounts, and skirted taxes on that income by wiring it directly to vendors to snap up real estate, bespoke suits, cars and antique rugs, the witnesses said.”<rawstory

Only dictators and trump would have someone fired for expressing their opinion on a private text. I could see there might be a problem if he was using a government account but he wasn’t .

He knows all the dirt on trump, so when he calls him a russian asset, he isn’t just blowing smoke.

I recall Strozak admitting he also texted on a work phone.

Firing Strzok will not curtail Trump from smearing anyone or any agency.
I guess Manafort and Cohen seem assured they will be pardoned from any conviction.

    But Lisa is still lovely.
