Over the last 70 years taxes for the wealthy have dropped to the point where they are now paying less in taxes than any other income group.

Do yourself a favor and watch that graph change a couple of times because your brain will refuse to comprehend it if you just watch it once.

For the first time in U.S. history, the 400 wealthiest Americans paid less in taxes last year than people in any other income group, thanks to decades of tax cuts and loopholes benefiting the rich.

A year after the Republican tax plan—often called the #GOPTaxScam by critics—was passed into law, the richest people in the country were subject to a 23 percent rate in local, state, and federal taxes.

As New York Times columnist David Leonhardt showed Sunday in a graphic accompanying his op-ed, “The Rich Really Do Pay Lower Taxes Than You,” the tax rate wealthy Americans are forced to pay has plummeted over the last seven decades while middle-income households have paid roughly the same share of their incomes each year.

In 1950, rich Americans paid 70 percent of their income in taxes—a system that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has suggested returning to, drawing derision from conservatives. By 1980, the 400 wealthiest people paid 47 percent of their incomes in taxes.

Leonhardt called the trend “maddening.”

I would not suggest that all of this country’s problems would be solved by raising taxes on the wealthiest people in America, but it would certainly solve the vast majority of them.

I’m good with that, how about you?

Time to do a hard reset.

First, take the tax tables back to Reagan.

Then take them back to Eisenhower.

Close the loopholes along the way.

Put restrictions on lobbying and campaign finance and it will be even easier.

It’s especially maddening that the richest benefit far more from this country’s infrastructure to make money than the middle and lower class. It stands to reason that they should pay more in.

    It’s simple.

Eliminate the electoral college, evangelicalism, and the 2nd amendment.

“In 2017, NBC fired Lauer after an NBC News employee told network executives the “Today” host sexually assaulted her at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. At the time, she wished to remain anonymous for fear of personal safety and professional repercussions.

The same day Lauer was fired, Variety broke additional stories from multiple other women of Lauer’s alleged sexual misconduct at NBC, and revealed that his alleged serial sexual predation was not a secret at the company.

Lauer emphatically denied the new allegations in a letter published Wednesday, in which he admits to having had an extramarital affair with Nevils but says the rape accusation is “dangerous and defamatory” and “categorically false.””

Lauer then explains how his extramarital affair with Nevils began when she came to his hotel room “very late one night” in Sochi, Russia, in 2014. He says the two “engaged in a variety of sexual acts.”

To explain further, he gives the following details: “We performed oral sex on each other, we had vaginal sex, and we had anal sex.”

He says, “Each act was mutual and completely consensual.”

““She seemed to know exactly what she wanted to do,” Lauer insists. “The only concern she expressed was that someone might see her leaving my room. She embraced me at the door as she left. This encounter, which she now falsely claims was an assault, was the beginning of our affair.”

“For two years, the women with whom I had extramarital relationships have abandoned shared responsibility, and instead, shielded themselves from blame behind false allegations,” he writes. “They have avoided having to look a boyfriend, husband, or a child in the eye and say, ‘I cheated.”

“declared Lovett on Twitter. “NBC killed the Weinstein story. It was a historic mistake. Over and over and over again, NBC told Ronan to stop reporting. I heard it myself! Phones have speakers!”
“In Farrow’s new book Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators, the journalist claimed Weinstein threatened NBC News by telling them that he could reveal similar sexual assault allegations about their now-fired anchor Matt Lauer.

“Weinstein made it known to the network that he was aware of Lauer’s behavior and capable of revealing it,” Farrow wrote”

I think they appreciate the fact that he abstains from alcohol and drugs,” he said. “The Amish care about religious liberty, business regulation, abortion and judges. Those are four things that the Amish overwhelmingly support President Trump over whoever the Democratic candidate is. We talk a lot more about issues than we do about candidates.”

It also helps that when Amish people do register to vote, 90 percent of the time they register as Republicans.

But Steven Nolt, who is an expert on Amish culture, says Amish PAC has their work cut out for them.”
