Well gee, that only took one hundred and twenty-six years.

The state’s chamber of commerce has released a new poll that shows a seismic shift among Mississippi voters in favor of changing the state flag to remove its Confederate battle emblem.
The poll released by the Mississippi Economic Council shows voters favorable to changing the flag 55% to 41%, a flip from a 2019 poll that showed 54% of voters favored keeping the current flag. MEC says polling data supports its call for the Legislature to act this week to “change the flag now.”
The poll was conducted last week by the Tarrance Group, a company with extensive political polling experience in Mississippi that has polled voters on the flag issue for years. It also showed that support for changing the flag jumped to 72% when people were asked about changing to a “state seal flag” that includes the motto “In God We Trust.” The survey showed the state seal version has support from a majority of Black and white Mississippians.
That the poll was backed by MEC will likely carry weight with lawmakers, who often look to the influential chamber of commerce for economic development counsel.
“In the nearly 20 years we have held the position of changing the state flag, we have never seen voters so much in favor of change,” said Scott Waller, president of MEC. “These recent polling numbers show what people believe, and that the time has come for us to have a new flag that serves as a unifying symbol for our entire state.”
It really seems like a no-brainer to change a flag that serves as a symbol of racism and celebrates and attempt to overthrow the US government.
But then if I am not sure what I should expect from a state that celebrates “Confederate Memorial Day” on the last Monday of April and still has multiple cross burnings every year.
In god we trust?

”Gilmore replied that he had seen a video on social media of white individuals kneeling in solidarity, which he characterized as “white people bowing down on their knees and worshipping Blacks,”
according to a report released by the department this week.”
The show of solidarity also featured a “fine looking white girl and this little punk pretty boy bowing down and kissing their toes,” Gilmore was quoted as saying.
Moore, who like Gilmore joined the force in 1997, later described to Piner the recent arrest of a Black woman, whom he repeatedly called the N-word, adding: “She needed a bullet in the head right then and move on.”
“Let’s move the body out of the way and keep going,” Moore added.
“That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you,” Piner replied.
Moore also called a Black judge a “f***ing negro magistrate.”
Piner, upon predicting that the protests would lead to a second Civil War, volunteered that he was preparing to buy an assault rifle.
“We are just going to go out and start slaughtering them,” Piner said, adding the N-word.
“God, I can’t wait,”

The bill, which now heads to the Republican-majority Senate, would allow for the admission of a new state, called Washington, Douglass Commonwealth, which would be represented by two senators and one member of Congress. The new state would be named for abolitionist Frederick Douglass, who spent the last 17 years of his life in the district.
The state’s territory would include all of the district’s current territory, except for monuments and federal buildings such as the White House and Capitol building.
Do they have nothing better to do????
Oh right the abolitionist Frederick Douglass, the guy trump thinks is still alive.
They may take it off the flag, but white Mississippians are still fighting the Civil War, or the war of northern aggression as they like to call it.
