Kanye West is going to the White House to have lunch with Trump.

And for some reason that is supposed to be important.

Rap star Kanye West is to visit the White House on Thursday where he will meet with President Donald Trump and Jared Kushner, White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders said.

“Kanye West is coming to the White House to have lunch with President Trump and he will also meet with Jared Kushner,” Sanders said in a statement Tuesday morning. “Topics of discussions will include manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago.”

It’s unclear whether the White House will open West’s visit to the press. During the presidential transition, Trump memorably brought West in front of cameras in the Trump Tower lobby for an impromptu gaggle with reporters.

I am not sure why the White House feels that this is something to brag about.

I mean when the Obama’s were in the White House there was like a revolving door specifically to accommodate all of the celebrities that visited and performed there. (Don’t believe me? Here’s a list.)

Then I thought “Hey, maybe it’s not that Kanye’s a celebrity, but that the White House announces when any black person comes to visit.”

All I know is that if Trump wants to impress us about which black celebrities are coming to visit him, perhaps he should pick one that is not clearly going through a mental health crisis.

I don’t know that much about Kanye but I know that he once interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, says crazy things on Twitter, and actually stuck his penis into at least one Kardashian.

Not exactly a person whose visit I would celebrate.

Speaking of Taylor Swift she wone “Artist of the Year” at the AMA’s last night and encouraged people to vote in the midterms during her acceptance speech.

Now see THAT’S the type of entertainer worth bragging about.

However, I am pretty sure she’s not coming to the White House anytime soon.

“We want to get down there as soon as possible,” he said. “At the same time, I don’t want to go down where we’re interfering with the people, the first responders, the FEMA people. I want them to focus on the storm, not me.”

According to reporters who were in the room, Trump explained that the hurricane was like a “massive” tornado.

“It’s like a big tornado, a massive tornado,” the president remarked, adding: “I say God bless you all.”

“The president is still planning to go to Pennsylvania on a political trip today,” remarked host Andrea Mitchell. “That could be a decision that he changes once this hurricane hits landfall.”

    OT/ Lunch:

Adelson attended an exclusive luncheon with Trump and congressional leaders at the Capitol.

Not surprisingly, the access continued well after Jan. 20, 2017. ProPublica’s Justin Elliott has a lengthy new piece on Adelson, which includes a rather extraordinary anecdote about developments in February 2017, when the billionaire casino magnate dined at the White House with Trump and top members of the new president’s team.
Trump told Abe he should strongly consider Las Vegas Sands for a license. Japanese officials were reportedly “a little incredulous that he would be so brazen.”

The piece, which has not been independently verified by MSNBC or NBC News, added, “The president raising a top donor’s personal business interests directly with a foreign head of state would violate longstanding norms.”

Yes, it would. If the reporting is correct, it would also add additional evidence pointing to systemic corruption on Team Trump.
“Sheldon Adelson is looking to give big dollars to Rubio because he feels he can mold him into his perfect little puppet. I agree!”

Who’s the perfect little puppet now?

Republicans have returned to their old reliable, the racist boogeyman. Hillary Clinton was thrown into that ad because for the next 100 years every Republican ad will try to feature a Clinton or Obama. They are the evergreen targets that Republicans always pull out when they are struggling to mobilize their voters.

I would say that this is a new low, but Republicans have been using these racial codes to motivate their voters for decades. They’ve done with black people. They’ve done it with Hispanics and immigration. It reveals the desperation of a failing party whose base has become dominated by angry old white men.
