Japan demands evidence from US that Iran was behind attacks on tankers in Gulf of Oman.

Nobody trust this administration.

The Japanese government has been requesting the United States for concrete evidence to back its assertion that Iran is to blame for the attacks on two tankers near the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, government sources said Sunday.

The request came after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo gave a statement hours after the attacks blaming Iran but without offering proof. The Department of Defense later released a video allegedly showing an Iranian patrol boat removing an unexploded mine attached to the side of the Japanese-operated tanker Kokuka Courageous.

But Japanese government officials remain unconvinced, the sources said. “The U.S. explanation has not helped us go beyond speculation,” said one senior government official.

Japan has been seeking more concrete evidence through various channels, including Foreign Minister Taro Kono who is likely to have made the request during a call with his counterpart on Friday, the sources said.

Pompeo said in a press conference Thursday that the United States’ assessment was based on their “intelligence, the weapons used, the level of expertise needed to execute the operation, recent similar Iranian attacks on shipping, and the fact that no proxy group operating in the area has the resources and proficiency to act with such a high degree of sophistication.”

A source close to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said, “These are not definite proof that it’s Iran.”

“Even if it’s the United States that makes the assertion, we cannot simply say we believe it,” he said.

Japan is by no means the only ones questioning the validity of Trump Administration’s evidence.

EU foreign ministers remained unconvinced by US allegations that Iran was behind last week’s attack on two Gulf tankers, as they arrived at a meeting on Monday.

There was strong support among EU countries for an independent UN investigation and calls for more evidence – with the UK relatively isolated in its support the Trump administration’s line.

One foreign minister invoked the spectre of US misuse of intelligence over Iraq as a reason for scepticism, as representatives of the 28 countries arrived at the council meeting.

The ministers will discuss the incident in the Gulf of Oman over lunch, with Sudan, trade policy with Cuba, and the situation in Venezuela also on the main agenda.

Heiko Maas, the German foreign minister, said the EU states “continue to gather information” while Dutch foreign minister Stef Blok said the Netherlands was “interested in any clarifications that can be made available”.

You cannot spend your entire first term lying about virtually everything, and then expect others to believe you when you accuse another nation of being behind a terrorist attack.

I am actually thrilled that people are taking a skeptical approach to these accusations, because perhaps at least this time a Republican administration will fail to lie this country into another unnecessary and illegal war.

That would be a welcome change.

Does anyone know where Eric Prince and his mercenaries were at the time of the attack? I’m putting my money on that evil SOB.

“Herr Trump says so” only works as proof for the Trumptards. Fortunately, the rest of reality runs on a scientific principle that whatever comes out of his administration is pure dogshit.

On most networks they are in doubt about his war. But on ONC, and Faux, and that other propoganda network they are acting like war is already imminent. So if you were the questioning kind, you would be asking for more evidence and asking loads of question, and if you were of the narrow minded persuasion you would be going along with whatever Trump and his oil buddies are saying. As America can we really just stop ruining countries in the name of oil? Geez. If we didn’t let the oil oligarchs get away with shit we would have natural resources to fall back on.

Good luck with that, Japan. Christians believe a bearded vertebrate in white linen is waiting only for them, so, there’s that.
