In response to increased gun violence Amnesty International issues a travel advisory for people planning to visit the United States.

Amnesty International, in the wake of two deadly mass shootings, issued a travel advisory for people going to the United States due to “ongoing high levels of gun violence in the country.”

“The Amnesty International travel advisory for the country of the United States of America calls on people worldwide to exercise caution and have an emergency contingency plan when traveling throughout the USA,” said the alert issued Wednesday.

The warning goes on to advise those traveling to the U.S. to be “extra vigilant at all times and be wary of the ubiquity of firearms among the population,” to “avoid places where large number of people gather, especially cultural events, places of worship, schools, and shopping malls” and to “exercise increased caution when visiting local bars, nightclubs, and casinos.”

The nongovernmental organization also warned that some travelers could be at a higher risk of being targeted with gun violence in the country depending on his or her gender identity, race, country of origin, ethnic background, or sexual orientation.

“Under international human rights law, the United States has an obligation to enact a range of measures at the federal, state, and local levels to regulate access to firearms and to protect the rights of people to live and move freely without the threat of gun violence,” the organization added in the advisory. “The government has not take sufficient steps to meet this obligation.”

America, formerly a beacon of hope for the rest of the world, is now a place where travelers must be on guard or risk being murdered due to the color of their skin.

This is now truly Trump’s America.

I don’t know who Joaquin Castro is other than the lesser brother of a failed presidential candidate (1%) who makes a fool of himself every time he opens his mouth. Joaquin is not the man that his brother is, but his brother, according to most, is not much. Keep fighting Joaquin!

Take note: If you donate to a political campaign, some of your information will probably be made public.
This is, in part, a discussion about privacy and what level of publicity donors to political campaigns do and do not deserve. But it’s also a conversation about how much the president’s supporters should be held accountable for his rhetoric and its implications. Castro isn’t backing down.

Revealed: A White Supremacist Leader Has Been Working in the US State Department Since 2013

    • Anonymously August 9, 2019 at 6:37 am

Trump campaign officials and sources close to the president tell Axios that they believe Democrats’ extraordinary charge that the president is a “white supremacist” will actually help him win in 2020.

Suspected White Nationalist Leader Suspended From State Department: Reports

The employee, Matthew Q. Gebert, allegedly oversaw a chapter of a white nationalist group and hosted white nationalists at his home.

    • 88 August 9, 2019 at 7:36 pm

“A U.S. State Department official oversaw the Washington, D.C.-area chapter of a white nationalist organization, hosted white nationalists at his home and published white nationalist propaganda online, Hatewatch has determined.

The official, Matthew Q. Gebert, works as a foreign affairs officer assigned to the Bureau of Energy Resources, a State Department spokesperson told Hatewatch. Online, and in private correspondences with other white nationalists, Gebert uses “Coach Finstock” as a pseudonym. Through that alias, he expressed a desire to build a country for whites only.

“[Whites] need a country of our own with nukes, and we will retake this thing lickety split,” “Coach Finstock” said on a May 2018 episode of “The Fatherland,” a white nationalist podcast. “That’s all that we need. We need a country founded for white people with a nuclear deterrent. And you watch how the world trembles.”
“Two separate sources told Hatewatch they spent time at Gebert’s home in Leesburg, Virginia, in 2017 at gatherings that included such known members of the white nationalist movement as podcaster Michael Peinovich and “Marcus Halberstram,” the pseudonymous co-host of a podcast called “Fash the Nation.”

One of the sources told Hatewatch they spent the night at Gebert’s home following a party on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2017. The other source, who is close to Peinovich’s inner circle, told Hatewatch that parties centered around holidays were commonly held at Gebert’s home, and typically included people associated with the white nationalist movement.”
“Four separate sources named Gebert’s wife, Anna Vuckovic, as “Wolfie James,” a blogger and Twitter personality who also is connected to the white nationalist movement. In addition to the three aforementioned sources, a fourth source told Hatewatch they knew Vuckovic by her name and identified her in the movement as “Wolfie James.” The fourth source said they had heard Vuckovic’s husband had “a serious job,” and that the couple lived in the Washington, D.C. area. Digital footprint leads to Gebert and Vuckovic”
“@WeWonFam also posted about attending an event that weekend linked to Richard Spencer’s group National Policy Institute, referring to it as the “Shitlord hajj.” Richard Spencer is arguably America’s most infamous white nationalist, and National Policy Institute is a think tank he oversees. The event to which @WeWonFam referred appears to be one staged in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 19, two days later. Attendees at that gathering gave Hitler-salutes and shouted “Hail Trump!” according to video footage published by The Atlantic.”
“Wolfie James’ blog posts focused on white nationalist women

For her part, Vuckovic, as “Wolfie James,” wrote blog posts focused on dating tips for white nationalist women and parenting advice for white nationalist moms. She wrote these for Peinovich’s The Right Stuff and at least one other white nationalist website. Someone appears to have deleted some of the “Wolfie James” posts, but Hatewatch was able to unearth them through internet archives.”

White Nationalist Terrorism Is a Problem. Trump Is a Bigger One.

…But Carlson isn’t downplaying the threat of domestic terrorism out of concern for preserving Americans’ civil liberties; he’s doing so out of desire to defend the right of the president (and himself) to carry on describing asylum seekers as invaders, immigrants as “infesting” insects, and migrant caravans as a Soros-orchestrated plot to irrevocably rig our democracy against real Americans.

This is the animating grievance of both Carlson’s monologue, and Marcus’s Federalist column: to make white supremacy seem like a bigger threat than it actually is, the left is cynically (and absurdly) accusing Donald Trump of being a white supremacist.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested for making a terrorist threat after wielding an assault rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition while filming himself entering a Missouri Walmart on Thursday afternoon.

The frightening incident for shoppers occurred days after Dmitriy Nickolayvich Andreychenko posted a video of himself firing an Anderson Arms AR-15 5.56 and six months after he posted that he hates the store’s policy of only selling firearms to those 21 and over.

In a February Facebook status update Andreychenko wrote: ‘It’s official. I hate Walmart. Apparently they won’t sell Rifle and shotgun ammo if your under 21. “New policy” However I can walk into the store with a loaded .40 and nobody says anything. What a joke.’

    What the fucking fuck???

Trump described the gunman as a “pussy” for allowing himself to be captured, the newspaper reported, rather than taking his own life or being killed in a gun battle with police.

Trump mocked gunman for surrendering to police as he visited shooting victims in El Paso hospital

    • $BM August 9, 2019 at 8:32 am

“Doctors at the Del Sol medical center in El Paso, where some of the survivors are still being treated, later said the president appeared to “lack empathy” after he boasted during the visit that he drew a larger crowd at a January rally in the city than one held by “crazy” Beto O’Rourke.”

(This article originally stated, based on reporting from The Guardian, that Trump had described the gunman as a “pussy” for allowing himself to be captured. The Guardian later retracted this quote, and Raw Story has followed suit.)

WATCH: Sweat-drenched Trump goes on bonkers rant accusing Hollywood liberals of being the real racists

    • OK August 9, 2019 at 8:26 am

“A sweat-drenched President Donald Trump went off on an angry rant against Hollywood studios Friday as he prepared to leave the White House to go on vacation.

When asked about potentially issuing executive orders about social media companies that supposedly “censor” conservatives, the president said that the big tech firms were treating conservatives “very unfairly” and then pivoted quickly to attacking Hollywood for making movies that he said are “dangerous” to the United States. “Hollywood — I don’t call them the elites, I think the elites are the people that they go after in many cases — but Hollywood is really terrible,” the president said. “You talk about racism — Hollywood is racist! What they’re doing with the kind of movies they’re putting out, it’s actually very dangerous for our country. What Hollywood is doing is a tremendous disservice to our country!”

Trump’s Terrible Ideas About Mass Shootings Are Coming Directly From The NRA

  20. anonymous August 9, 2019 at 8:40 am

Children are afraid to go to school in America, and other nations are afraid to send their citizens here.

Americans are 25x more likely to be shot and killed than residents of other developed countries.

Never before has our country had a presidential forum singularly dedicated to addressing gun violence.

This year, @GiffordsCourage and @AMarch4OurLives are changing that. I can’t wait to hear from 2020 candidates on how they’d #endgunviolence.

  21. OT-FYI August 9, 2019 at 9:06 am

NOW, Trump says he should return “if he’s good enough” and that clubs would sign him if they felt that was the case, citing his relationship with Robert Kraft, owner of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.

“Only if he’s good enough. If he’s good enough,” Trump said.

“And I think if he was good enough — I know the owners, I know Bob Kraft, I know so many of the owners — if he’s good enough they would sign him.

I’ll just drop this here……how Donald Trump destroyed a football league.

      • anonymous August 9, 2019 at 10:16 am

An oral history of the rise and fall of the USFL.

“Before barreling through what he dismisses as his loser, low-energy, blood-coming-out-of-their-whatever opposition and shaking up politics as usual, Donald Trump was trying to shake the high holy shit out of professional football. He was just 37—a budding rogue rich guy with flyaway sandy (not yet orange) hair and a trophy first wife named Ivana. He’d just built a 68-story glass tower in the middle of Manhattan and, to make sure people noticed, put his name on it. In bronze. He’d soon open his first Atlantic City casino, slapping his name on that, too. Even back then, Trump wanted what he still wants most: more.” “Games were televised on ABC and an upstart cable channel called ESPN.” “The Donald made a media-inhaling, savior-is-born entrance; surged beyond expectations; then went all in on his attempt to upend the entrenched NFL by pushing his fellow owners to move games to the fall in hopes of inciting a merger. The bet brought the league, already in failing health, crashing down. Critics blame Trump’s hubris.”
“He’s the same guy who never lets the truth stand in the way of a good story or anything that furthers his ambition. He never lets humanity get in the way of personal gain. He’s the same guy who looks down on anyone in his way, whose audacity and narcissism knows no bounds.”

As a kid, I compared my NRA membership to being a Boy Scout or a member of 4-H. ” It was like learning the manly art of boxing.” Revisiting the NRA as an adult, I was shocked by what I saw.
in 1968, the NRA became front and center in my mind with the assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Sen. Robert Kennedy. That year, I was living in Washington, D.C., and attended a protest rally at the headquarters of the NRA, which was then located downtown.” – “What led to my final break with the organization was a chance encounter with an NRA event in Northern Virginia” – “Most of what I saw inside the gun show was a lot of trading and selling of guns and ammunition, but what grabbed my attention and appalled me were the number of vendors selling Nazi memorabilia or knock-offs. The best possible interpretation of these vendors was that they were selling the Nazi items to World War II re-enactors, but the more I observed, the more I became convinced that my initial understanding was naive. In some cases at least, these items were being purchased as objects of veneration.”
