Former President Barack Obama, talking privately to ex-members of his administration, said Friday that the “rule of law is at risk” in the wake of what he called an unprecedented move by the Justice Department to drop charges against former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn.
In the same chat, a tape of which was obtained by Yahoo News, Obama also lashed out at the Trump administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic as “an absolute chaotic disaster.”
“The news over the last 24 hours I think has been somewhat downplayed — about the Justice Department dropping charges against Michael Flynn,” Obama said in a web talk with members of the Obama Alumni Association.
“And the fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk. And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places.”
The Flynn case was invoked by Obama as a principal reason that his former administration officials needed to make sure former Vice President Joe Biden wins the November election against President Trump. “So I am hoping that all of you feel the same sense of urgency that I do,” he said. “Whenever I campaign, I’ve always said, ‘Ah, this is the most important election.’ Especially obviously when I was on the ballot, that always feels like it’s the most important election. This one — I’m not on the ballot — but I am pretty darn invested. We got to make this happen.”
I have no idea how Barack Obama keeps his mouth shut through all of his, I really don’t.
I know it is seen as disrespectful for past presidents to criticize current presidents, but I think those guidelines for politeness were for simpler times.
And it is int as if Trump has not thrown the first stone.
He tries to blame every single thing that he does wrong on the Obama Administration, and Barack would be well within his rights to clap back.
I actually think that if Obama truly wants to help Biden win this election he is going to have to take off those kid gloves and start beating Trump about the head and shoulders with the truth.

I miss President Obama more each day. He was intelligent and not at all afraid to surround himself with the best experts in their fields. It was eight years of great leadership from the Executive Branch, which, after two short years, had no support from the GOP Senate, ruled by Mitch McConnell. Remember he swore on the day of President Obama’s inauguration (Jan. 20, 2009) that he would make him a “one-term president.” Well, he failed to do that but he did succeed, once the Senate was lost to the Democrats in 2010 to thwart every good thing that the Obama Administration tried to do legislatively. McConnell should always live in shame for that.
I highly doubt McConnell ever experiences shame, but I’m a sidelines no one so very tired of it.

Religion if kept to oneself is ok. Sometime the message of peace a d love is good but mankind always convolutes the message to control his fellow man or woman. No one on this site hates religion, I am sure, bit I for one distinctly hate the corrupt messengers. As for Mr.Obama. no one sees him as a savior. I see him as a clear headed person who wants the best for his fellow citizen. Now I truly believe Donald Trump is a false savior. I believe those who follow him with such zeal, all have an evil agenda. None of it good for the diverse citizenry of these United States. Some want white supremacy, others follow Ayn Rand doctrine, some wanting women ten steps beneath women on all points, and some are fat and drunk like Steve Bannon. The people who hold Donalds puppet strings are to be feared. Putin for one. He has helped Donald get out of trouble after trouble with his KGB tactics, I dont believe Putin has any great Russian pride. He is just a ruthless thug who has ammassed billions of dollars in his personal accounts and in this very moment in time is seeking to further his prowess further into United States wealth and power. We as citizens will suffer while the crooks make of with tax payer money. Money was given to big corperatins again who are Donald approved. Small businesses with American dreams are all but dead. The individual citizens were given back 1200 of their own hard earned money that Donald acts like was given from his own pockets. See how he makes those wait for paper checks so he can put his signature on it? Only an evil, corrupt man and government would make the citizens wait as their children starve. We are up against pure evil next election. We, the average citizen, witout the bots and trolls from Russia, China and the far Right here in America, must fight to gain back the America we thought we had. It was just a dream and before we could realize this will o wisp of an almost tangible dream an evil empire ambushed us with foreign aid and inside help.

My husband and I have each received “our own, hard-earned money” of $1200 by direct deposit into our credit union account, where we also receive any yearly state or federal income tax refund. (Some years we owe.) It was received in a very timely manner after the original announcement. That said, a couple of weeks later I received a canned letter from Trump, with that weird sharpie signature of his, praising himself and his administration for sending me the money. I said to my husband, should I keep the letter…either framing it or using it as toilet paper, if should we run out? Neither, I pitched it into the (recycling) trash, but I sure liked the idea of using it for potty paper!!! One way or another, Donnie is making sure every recipient sees his signature of largesse.
