They can’t all be this way, right?

A Rhode Island man has pleaded guilty to sending a series of threatening emails to a Harvard University professor who spoke in favor of abortion rights.

Matthew Haviland, of North Kingstown, faces up to five years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to stalking and transmitting a threat.

Federal prosecutors said the 29-year-old Haviland sent the professor 28 emails in March containing threats such as, “I will rip every limb from your body and eat it, piece by piece,” and “I will bite through your eyeballs while you’re still alive, and I will laugh while you scream.”

Prosecutors say Haviland also sent 12 threatening emails to the university including one that said “You should be Murdered in cold blood.”

According to the professor the two men were once friends, but then came Donald Trump.

In an affidavit, FBI task force officer Richard Laft, Jr. wrote that the professor told authorities Haviland’s “views regarding abortion and politics have become more extreme” within the last year. The professor, who had been friends with Haviland for about 11 years, believed Haviland’s views changed because “of the way the news media portrays” President Donald Trump, Laft wrote.

Haviland used social media to praise Trump and accuse the news media of attempting to ruin his presidency, the Daily Beast reported.

The professor, referred to as “Victim 1,” publicly advocated for abortion rights.

“You are Evil. Pure evil — all Democrats must be eradicated, like the Confederates before them and among their ranks,” Haviland wrote to the professor in a series of emails sent within a three-hour period. “They must be slaughtered.”

In a separate email, Haviland also threatened that people wearing “pink f—–g hats,” seemingly referring to hats worn by the Women’s March supporters, “should all be slaughtered.”

Raving lunatic or typical Trump supporter?

You decide.
