House Republicans release report that finds Trump did nothing wrong in his interactions with Ukraine.

You could have knocked me over with a feather.

Here are the major “findings” according to Axios:

They claim there is “nothing inherently wrong” with the Trump administration’s actions toward Ukraine and justify each of them in detail, including Rudy Giuliani’s direct involvement in U.S. diplomacy.

They say any references to a quid pro quo are conjecture and hearsay — including EU Ambassador and Trump donor Gordon Sondland’s testimony.

They question the origins of the impeachment inquiry and Democrats’ motives, and they allege that Democrats have wanted to undo the 2016 election since Trump won.

They mock Democrats for calling the impeachment inquiry a serious process, and they characterize the speedy nature of the inquiry as proof that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is motivated by politics rather than substance.

They use Trump’s well-known skepticism about U.S. spending on foreign aid as justification for his hesitation to give money to Ukraine.

They say there was “nothing wrong” with asking questions about Hunter Biden’s role on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian company, or renewing unfounded allegations about who interfered in the 2016 elections.

They also seek to discredit those inside the government who raised alarm bells about what the president, Giuliani and others were doing outside normal foreign policy channels.

They label the former and current State Department officials and members of the intelligence community “unelected bureaucrats.”

They say the now infamous summary of the July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky, which Democrats cite as evidence of a quid pro quo, actually exonerates Trump. It “does not reflect any improper pressure or conditionality to pressure Ukraine to investigate President Trump’s political rival.”

Well that is the most entertaining piece of creative writing that I have read since Harry Potter.

Well I guess we can assume that this report will also be used by the Senate Republicans to help justify their predetermined decision to find Trump innocent and block his impeachment.

Well, at least we know what’s coming.

As if there was ever any doubt.

Lindsey Graham on Tuesday said he is “1,000% confident” that Russia, not Ukraine, meddled in the 2016 US presidential election, breaking from President Donald Trump and others in his party who have pushed the discredited conspiracy theory.

“It’s more compelling than the case they made against Nixon,” Dean reiterated.

“You’re saying this White House went farther in terms of obstruction of justice than Nixon?” Cooper asked.

“Yes, they did and that’s noted in the report,”

“It is deeply concerning that at a time when the president of the United States was using the power of his office to dig up dirt on a political rival, that there may be evidence that there were members of Congress complicit in that activity,” Schiff said on Tuesday of Nunes’ communications with Parnas and Giuliani.

Phone records released on Tuesday also show contacts in early April between Giuliani, Parnas, and Victoria Toensing, a lawyer who briefly served as Trump’s personal attorney in 2018. Days after her contacts with Giuliani and Parnas, Toensing signed a retainer agreement to represent two former Ukrainian prosecutors who had briefed Giuliani on allegations against the Bidens.

“How the Republicans Are Trying to GA$LIGHT America With Their Impeachment Report

It’s a Soviet-style rewriting of history to protect their dear leader.”

“Republicans are not just taking the position that Trump’s conduct regarding Ukraine does not merit the ultimate political punishment: impeachment. They are saying that black is white.”
“CONsequently, they have manufactured a report that literally cannot handle the truth.”

The Senate Republicans cannot block Trump’s impeachment; neither can the Senate Democrats. It is the House of Representatives that either blocks or passes the Articles of Impeachment. Senators only vote to retain or remove.

I guess we are the United States of Russia now? Only Putin could or would design such a tactic. Now we watch the election to see if the people have no say. A second term for Donald Trump is mighty win for Putin.
