The big day has finally arrived.

House Democratic leaders announced Tuesday that they would move ahead this week with two articles of impeachment against President Trump charging him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, accusing him of violating the Constitution when he pressed Ukraine for help in the 2020 election.
Speaking from a wood-paneled reception room just off the floor of the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and leaders of several key committees said that Mr. Trump’s actions toward Ukraine, and his efforts to block Congress’s attempt to investigate, had left them no choice but to pursue one of the Constitution’s gravest remedies. The move will bring a sitting president to the brink of impeachment for only the fourth time in American history.
“Our president holds the ultimate public trust,” said Representative Jerrold Nadler, Democrat of New York and the chairman of the Judiciary Committee. “When he betrays that trust and puts himself before country, he endangers the Constitution, he endangers our democracy, and he endangers our national security.”
Here was Trump’s response.
To Impeach a President who has proven through results, including producing perhaps the strongest economy in our country’s history, to have one of the most successful presidencies ever, and most importantly, who has done NOTHING wrong, is sheer Political Madness! #2020Election

Nice try fella, but you know we know what you did.
If the Republican response to the hearings is any indication, this thing is going to be the shit show to end all shit shows.
Buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Update: Here is Adam Schiff’s explanation for why the Democrats are not postponing the impeachment proceedings.
House Intel Chairman Adam Schiff defends the timing of impeachment: “The argument, why don’t you just wait amounts to this: Why don’t you just let him cheat in one more election? Why not let him just cheat one more time? Why not let him have foreign help just one more time?” pic.twitter.com/4s8YVAoTyO
