Gun injuries send over 8,000 children to the ER every year.

And still, we do nothing.

Courtesy of the AP:

Gun injuries, including many from assaults, sent 75,000 U.S. children and teens to emergency rooms over nine years at a cost of almost $3 billion, a first-of-its-kind study found.

Researchers called it the first nationally representative study on ER visits for gun injuries among U.S. kids. They found that more than one-third of the wounded children were hospitalized and 6 percent died. Injuries declined during most of the 2006-14 study, but there was an upswing in the final year.

The researchers found that 11 of every 100,000 children and teens treated in U.S. emergency rooms have gun-related injuries. That amounts to about 8,300 kids each year.

The scope of the problem is broader though; the study doesn’t include kids killed or injured by gunshots who never made it to the hospital, nor does it count costs for gunshot patients after they’re sent home.

“I don’t know what more we need to see in the world to be able to come together and tackle this problem,” said Dr. Faiz Gani, the lead author and a researcher at Johns Hopkins University medical school.

This is an epidemic.

If it were any other reason other than guns, the entire country would come together to stamp out the cause.

But because it’s guns, the politics become too complicated for any solutions to be agreed upon.

In the meantime, these children continue to be injured and killed by one of the most preventable causes imaginable.

‘Trump said he’s considering an executive order to remove the right to citizenship for babies born in the U.S. to parents who aren’t citizens ― a right enshrined in the 14th Amendment that could likely be changed only through a constitutional amendment.

Trump said in an interview with “Axios on HBO” taped Monday that he could execute the change via executive order.

“It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don’t,” Trump said. “You can definitely do it with an act of Congress. But now they’re saying I can do it just with an executive order.”

He said the right awarded to babies born as birthright Americans is “ridiculous,” and the system “has to end.”

Trump also falsely stated that the U.S. is “the only country in the world” that offers citizenship to those born here. More than 30 nations, including Canada and Mexico, have similar policies.

Such a move would overstep the president’s authority, according to most experts. All babies born in the U.S. are American citizens under the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which cannot be changed by presidential order. ‘

“Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham on Tuesday said he would introduce legislation to support U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to limit U.S. citizenship to certain children born in the United States.

Graham, in a statement, said his measure would be “along the same lines” as the executive order that Trump earlier told Axios that he planned to enact.
Neither Graham nor Trump gave any details or timeline.”<Rawstory

    Over 5000 to the boarder…
FB>” Sarah Sanders refuses to rule out the suspension of habeas corpus or posse comitatus.
She called the refugee caravan an “invasion” and is treating it as a military action.
Again, the official position is that the military is being sent to the border in a support role.
In reality, Trump himself and every one of his proxies has repeatedly declared that the MILITARY will be front and center and THE PRIMARY force on the border.
NOW, right now, Sanders refuses to rule out that the military will be used against AMERICAN CITIZENS.
I told you. I fucking told you.” <Jim Wright
