Fox news bimbette fondly remembers how America defeated “communist” Japan.

Just in case anybody is somewhat confused Japan was NEVER a communist country.

That would be China, who by the way happened to be an ally during World War 2

I continue to be confounded by the idea that people actually attempt to get news by watching Fox News.

It is the literal home of misinformation, propaganda, and alternate realities.

For the absolute icon she was, Fox couldn’t even get Aretha Franklin right. Enough already!

Fox: “Oops! They all look the same. My bad.”

China didn’t even become Communist until after World War II

The ignorance of the American people with regard to our own history is astounding. I once overheard a forty-something father tell his young son (as we watched survivors of the Battle of the Bulge ride by in a parade) that WWII didn’t last “that long.” I think he thought it started in June 1944. I felt like interrupting him and saying that WWII began in Europe in 1939 and lasted almost six long years and it began even earlier in Asia, in the mid-1930’s, when Japan invaded China. Even for Americans it lasted long enough. I’m sure that soldiers like my cousins who fought in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and then France into Germany to say nothing of the marines and soldiers slogging through the Pacific Islands it lasted quite a long time.

‘A gripping narrative that spans five decades, The Looming Tower explains in unprecedented detail the growth of Islamic fundamentalism, the rise of al-Qaeda, and the intelligence failures that culminated in the attacks on the World Trade Center. Lawrence Wright re-creates firsthand the transformation of Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri from incompetent and idealistic soldiers in Afghanistan to leaders of the most successful terrorist group in history. He follows FBI counterterrorism chief John O’Neill as he uncovers the emerging danger from al-Qaeda in the 1990s and struggles to track this new threat. Packed with new information and a deep historical perspective, The Looming Tower is the definitive history of the long road to September 11.’

Wright’s profound portrait of the state not only reflects our country back as it is, but as it was and as it might be.
