Famed Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein claims Mueller report will show that Donald Trump helped Russia “destabilize the United States.”

Holy shit this will be huge!

Courtesy of Newsweek:

Legendary journalist Carl Bernstein has said that he’s been told that special counsel Robert Mueller’s report will show how President Donald Trump helped Russia “destabilize the United States.”

Bernstein, who is renowned for his coverage of the Watergate scandal that led to the resignation of former President Richard Nixon, appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources on Sunday to discuss two bombshell reports released this weekend, one from The New York Times and one from The Washington Post, which revealed new details about whether or not Trump and his aides have colluded with Russia.

“This is about the most serious counterintelligence people we have in the U.S. government saying, ‘Oh, my God, the president’s words and actions lead us to conclude that somehow he has become a witting, unwitting, or half-witting pawn, certainly in some regards, to Vladimir Putin,’” Bernstein explained during his appearance on Reliable Sources .

“From a point of view of strength… rather, he has done what appears to be Putin’s goals. He has helped Putin destabilize the United States and interfere in the election, no matter whether it was purposeful or not,” the journalist added. He then explained that he knew from his own high-level sources that Mueller’s report would discuss this assessment.

“And that is part of what the draft of Mueller’s report, I’m told, is to be about,” he said. “We know there has been collusion by [former national security adviser Michael] Flynn. We know there has been collusion of some sort by [Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul] Manafort. The question is, yes, what did the president know and when did he know it?”

If Bernstein is accurate, and we know he has great sources, this report is going to be like a nuclear explosion when it lands.

The thing that occurs to me is that it would likely not only take down Trump but also a number of folks who have enabled him by protecting him from investigations, refused to allow votes on bills that could have reined him in, and attacked journalists who reported accurately on what will surely be the biggest story since Watergate.

Ooops Gryphen; that’s Bob Woodward’s photo.
    Nonetheless, Mr. Bernstein is spot-on!!!

Dammit! I always get them confused.

      Fixed now.

Not a problem; as the late, great Jason Robards shouted in “All The President’s Men” – “WOODSTEIN”!!

Woodward is the one that wrote the book, Obama’s war.. guess he missed the part that it was Bush’s that lied his way into that war !!!

I read on another site that someone has finally come out and said trump holding the country hostage with his shut down is an impeachable offense.. guess they must read this blog because I already stated that a few days ago 🙂

Personally, I am writing my senators and representative ( all democrats) from MI and tell them not to give into the terrorist/traitor that is occupying the WH . If they give in on the wall, who knows he will come up with next..give AK back to russia?

I am in Oregon and, while I am proud of my senators, congressmen not so much, I do not e-mail any of them.
Aides that oversee it make the call?
Maybe that’s how cynical I have become that if I speak my voice no one will hear it.

I don’t care if the thumbnail is wrong, maybe, just “maybe” even MSM will start reporting on “I’m insulted” instead of admitting? As plain as the big nose on my face. Don’t expect “back to journalisming” Palin to do so. I keep bring it up because it is so laughable. She wouldn’t say jack unless there’s something in it for her, and she’s ALL for Russia.

As someone said here earlier thread, remember the Sarah Palin Channel? She couldn’t even keep that up with Mommy and Daddy;s help.
Whomever thought up that rebirth, HAH! The instagram, “I’m back,” a knee slapper and totally her. I await in mirth and merriment.

Russia probably has her captive. You know. Since they have been making movies about it forever.
Require all USA citizens a DNA test. There is your Blockbuster.
How many have wandered thru Hollywood? The world. Without a trace. Now they all just walked in the mousetrap. Good kitty. 😸

Bernstein said. “And that to me is the other dimension of this whole story that we need to start hearing from Mitch McConnell. What’s going on, Mr. McConnell?”

No one is going to say anything period GOP. This is not Nixon era, they have found their loopholes, especially that schmuck McConnell.
Only until he’s faced with chains hands and feet which will never happen.

    G. From day one we on this site have been talking about russias number one asset. So all of this is no surprise. It just took one year for the press to do an about face on trump. Now its almost seems as if everyones waking up to the fact that putin was crafty enough to have groomed a president to be his puppet. On news tonight saw a farmer from georgia whos farming is affected by trumps shutdown. But of coarse he still supports trumps crazy wall. I think there are government workers who are behind trump even without pay. I forgot jim jones cult followers drank the koolaid and died. Thats how powerful cult figures are.

I’m hopeful that the investigation takes down that lying rat bastard Mike Pence as well. Along with Mitch McConnell, that would be icing on the cake.

    • Anonymous January 15, 2019 at 4:47 am

Pence was part of the campaign and “chose” Flynn, so he needs to go also.

If you havn’t, you really need to see Vice. It does a nice job of laying out how the limits of presidential authority are being tested now and the start with all the legislation tha has been put in place. Cheney fucking absolutely knew 9/11 was coming and helped it along by action and inaction. His aim, and that of PNAC was power grabbing legislation.
Now, we are seeing the limits being explored. It’s like a game to try and see if US “democracy” can be turned into an authoritarian regime despite alleged checks and balances.

FB>”What President Trump doesn’t understand (or acknowledge) is journalists didn’t ask previous presidents if they were agents for hostile foreign powers because it was never a question anyone thought to ask. The disgrace lies not in the query but in the plausibility of the premise.”<Dan the Man Rather
