Elizabeth Warren takes the lead with Liberals.

Liberals, hey that’s me!

Courtesy of YouGov:

Elizabeth Warren has made inroads among Democrats, especially liberals.

Just about as many Democratic primary voters in the latest Economist/YouGov Poll say they are considering the Massachusetts Senator for the Democratic presidential nomination as are considering Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Warren still lags behind former Vice President Joe Biden by just a few percentage points on this question.

The percentage considering Biden has dropped seven points in the last week, while the changes in other candidates’ percentages are small. Biden remains the clear leader among women and African-Americans, while Warren is considered by more liberals (who are a majority of all Democratic primary voters) than Biden or Sanders.

The article suggests that Biden and Sanders have an advantage over Warren in that over a quarter of respondents claim to have only one candidate in mind and that is either Sanders or Biden.

However, Warren has the advantage of having the lowest unfavorable rating of any of the leading Democratic contenders and less baggage.

The other thing to consider is that both Biden and Sanders are known quantities and their support is likely baked in, while Warren is still introducing herself to the American people and can increase her level of support as she becomes more of a household name.

Which, by the way, is a thing that we have already watched happen.

I continue to keep my powder dry when it comes to pulling the trigger on my choice to be the nominee, but I will admit that Warren is currently the only candidate that continues to move up in my opinion day after day.

    Speak, Shout, Be heard.

“Searing and soul-searching, this important memoir is a denouncement of our society’s failures and a love letter to all the people with the courage to say #MeToo and #TimesUp, whether aloud, online, or only in their own hearts. SHOUT speaks truth to power in a loud, clear voice– and once you hear it, it is impossible to ignore.”

“asset limited, income constrained, employed.” AKA “the people formerly known as the American middle class.”
nearly half of Americans can’t afford the basics of life anymore…
Half of people are effectively poor in the world’s richest country…
“Poverty in America, in other words, has become endemic and ubiquitous because its systemic and structural. It’s baked into the system. It’s a feature, not a bug.”

“There’s a place where pride becomes hubris. Where stoicism becomes vanity. Where self-reliance becomes ignorance of the common good. Americans are at that place right now, in this moment.

American poverty — a middle class falling into ruin, the majority of people now effectively poor — is what gave rise to today’s problems: Trumpism, extremism, fascism, theocracy. It’s what drives religious fervour — save me, someone!”
