Donald Trump has said he might leave the US if he loses the White House to Joe Biden on election day.
Mr. Trump was talking about the prospect of his Democratic rival winning the upcoming election during his latest Make America Great Again campaign rally in Macon, Georgia.
The president told the crowd that Mr. Biden was the “worst candidate in the history of presidential elections” and that he could not face the prospect of being defeated by the former vice president.
“Can you imagine if I lose, my whole life, what am I going to do? I am going to say I lost to the worst candidate in the history of politics?” Mr. Trum said.
“I am not going to feel so good, maybe I will have to leave the country, I don’t know,” Mr. Trump added, while drawing laughs from the crowd.
Earlier Mr. Trump had laughed as he called for Mr. Biden and his family to be jailed.
“That is a corrupt family. ‘Lock them up.’ You should lock them up, lock up the Bidens, lock up Hillary, lock them up,” said Mr. Trump as his supporters cheered him on.
Now folks will push back on this and insist that Trump is clearly joking here, and that is a legitimate argument.
However, let me point out that Trump has no sense of humor, and uses this joking manner to introduce ideas that he then doubles down on later.
The border wall started off as a throwaway line, as was his plan to start a trade war with China, and his initial suggestion that the 2020 election was being rigged against him.
This is how Trump operates.
He introduces a crazy idea, waits to see the reaction, and then doubles and triples down on it once it gets embedded in the minds of his supporters.
I think there is a very good chance that Trump will flee the country once he loses.
And that, by the way, might be the best advertisement to convince folks to vote for Joe Biden that I have heard yet.
