So the “Art of the Deal” is to negotiate like a toddler?

President Donald Trump on Wednesday walked out of a meeting in the situation room with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to discuss the partial government shutdown that has now lasted 19 days.

Trump posted about the meeting on Twitter, calling it a “total waste of time.” The Democratic leaders had begun by stressing the need to reopen the government.

“I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO,” the president tweeted.

He continued: “I said bye-bye, nothing else works.”

Schumer confirmed Trump’s version of events, telling reporters gathered in front of the White House, “Well, unfortunately, the president just got up and walked out” after Pelosi said she would not agree to funding for the wall.

“He just got up and he said, ‘Then we have nothing to discuss.’ And he just walked out. Again, we saw a temper tantrum because he couldn’t get his way,” Schumer said.

This is what Trump tweeted today in response to news stories about this meeting.

This is the guy that the deplorables thought could use his business acumen to get them everything that they wanted?

Before this meeting, Trump admitted that his threshold for declaring a national emergency was if he did not get his way.

Asked by a reporter why he didn’t declare a national emergency during his Oval Office speech on Tuesday night, Trump said, “because I think we might work a deal, and if we don’t, I may go that route.”

“I have the absolute right to do national emergency if I want,” Trump added.

The reporter followed up by asking the president what his “threshold” will be to declare one. But instead of citing the possibility that conditions could deteriorate at the southern border, Trump cited political considerations — rather than anything that’s happening on the ground.

“My threshold will be if I can’t make a deal with people that are unreasonable,” Trump said, alluding to Democrats who thus far have shown no sign of caving to his demand that more than $5 billion in wall funding be included in a government funding bill.

In other words, the only “national emergency” is Trump not getting his way.

That is just fucking pathetic, and an abuse of presidential power.

By the way, this magical steel wall of Trump’s is not so magical.

In the meantime, people are going without money to pay their bills just so this orange-tinted lunatic can flex his flabby muscles and act tough over a border wall that can be breached in a matter of minutes.
