What the shit?

Courtesy of NYT:

The Trump administration is expected on Wednesday to formally revoke California’s authority to set auto emissions rules that are stricter than federal standards, taking a major step forward in its wide-ranging attack on government efforts to fight climate change.

The formal abolishment of one of California’s signature environmental policies — tailpipe pollution is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States — will be announced Wednesday afternoon at the Washington headquarters of the Environmental Protection Agency, according to two people familiar with the matter. Mr. Trump at the time will be traveling in California, where he is scheduled to attend fund-raisers in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley.

Lawyers said the action takes the administration into uncharted legal territory in its battle with the state, which has vowed to fight the change all the way to the Supreme Court.

“This is unprecedented and a tremendously big deal,” said Richard L. Revesz, a professor of environmental law at New York University, noting that no administration has ever revoked a state’s authority to regulate its own air quality in the past.

For those who are just confused by this extremely bizarre decision, you have to remember that Trump was pissed off that car manufacturers had struck a deal with California to limit the emissions of their automobiles to fall in line with that state’s new standards. (Link)

Of course, the Feds are NOT offering a better alternative, which is why the California plan got so much support.

Trump has no desire to do anything substantial on protecting this planet from car emissions and refuses to recognize that there is a climate catastrophe headed our way.

What’s more Trump absolutely despises California and blames them for the fact that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, so of course in his pettiness he must punish them.

Here was the response from Governor Gavin Newsom.

What he is doing here will likely end up in the Supreme Court and their decision could have significant ramifications moving forward.

Every single day this asshole finds another way to fuck America.

I for one am goddamn sick and tired of it.

Just how the FUCK does lowering the mileage standard make a vehicle safer according to Trump? My god there are some really stupid MFers believing him!

Probably because using catalytic converters causes cancer just like wind turbines, doncha know?

What next, Trump to mandate all military aircraft with ejection seats to have seats deactivated. He wants those pilots to die in their planes, no chickenshit cowardice bailouts from his soldiers, by god!

Even the auto companies want to follow CA emissions standards.

Trump is an idiot, the companies already spent the money for developing the technology and now he wants to throw that out the window because chicken little won’t ride in a car built like a tank.

Why don’t they just ignore the moron and continue on the planned path, you know when the next Democratic president is elected, he/she is going to throw out trump’s stupid change in regulation.

He just saved the auto industry and California.

    He’s trying. Naturally lawsuits ensued.

The danger here is that Trump has changed Federal actions. Whereas the government usually sets a floor requiring all maintain a higher level, Trump has set a dirty ceiling demanding everyone stay below it.

I think Trump is golng to lose on that point and that California has been able to set standards for so long. Even the car manufacturers are against this. There is no proof that what Trump is proposing will result in any of the outcomes Trump claims.

With the holidays fast approaching, I’d like to wish Donald Trump Treasons Greetings. Now go stock up on those decking the halls supplies, ie new ropes for Trump hangings. His kids sure are quiet this week. Must be they know Santa ain’t happy and all they’ll get is a big bag of clean coal.

I can’t believe Trump about the increase in the amount of cost, how much it cost for solely emissions, nor his claim cars are less safe. I do know Trump believes in winning by the other party losing. He is anti any and all regulations on the limited basis of company profits. He has no regard for consequences to people, our land, the planet, safety or wellbeing. His statements necessitate seeking truthful facts. Trump evidently is oblivious to severe air pollution in major CA cities.

I wonder if this ties in with some oil deal with his buddies in Saudia Arabia?

he is worried about getting in a car crash, well if all the cars are smaller and fuel efficient, that wouldn’t be a problem. I drive a Prius and my concern is getting hit by a gas guzzling Chevy Yukon, which living in the suburbs no one really needs except for their ego, most of them end up in the ditch when it snows anyway because the morons driving them think they can plow through 4 ft snow banks .
