Trump negotiates like he is setting up a money drop before he will agree to release his hostage.

President Trump sought to school Democrats in the “Art of the Deal” Saturday with a proposal to reopen the federal government—by offering protection for 1 million immigrants in exchange for a $5.7 billion border wall.

But 29 days into the longest government shutdown in history, Dems rejected Trump’s plan before he even uttered it.

During a 15-minute speech from the White House, Trump said he would protect about 700,000 immigrants known as “Dreamers” for another three years. That group came to the US as kids and has proved to be a flashpoint in the debate on immigration.

Trump also offered a three-year extension for another 300,000 immigrants living in the US under Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, which is granted to victims of natural disasters and political turmoil in their home countries.

“I’m here today to break the logjam and provide Congress with a path forward to end the government shutdown and solve the crisis on the southern border,” Trump said.

He repeated his call for $5.7 billion to build the wall, his main point of contention with congressional Dems who have rejected the request to date.

To be clear Trump offered NOTHING.

He simply mimicked some of the same things that the Democrats had just offered in their recent attempt to break the shutdown and then offered to temporarily protect the Dreamers who are already being protected by our court system that rejected Trump’s attempts to target them.

Just like his recent address from the White House Trump said a lot of words that meant absolutely nothing.

And then this morning he sent out a number of tweets that seemed to directly threaten some of these same Dreamers if Nancy Pelosi does not submit to his will.

This guy may be the worse deal maker in the history of deal-making.

He acts more like a mob boss threatening to burn down a restaurant if they do not pay him protection money, than a civil servant working to help his constituents.

So once again it becomes painfully obvious that the only wait to solve this crisis is for Mitch McConnell to stop being a little bitch and allow a vote to end the shutdown and open up real talks with the Democrats.

This is now shifting from the “Trump shutdown” to the “McConnell shutdown.”
