I hope that the fact checkers are planning to get plenty of sleep tonight because guaranteed Trump is just going to be making shit up as he goes along.

President Trump wants to address the nation about the government shutdown on Tuesday night, and later in the week plans to travel to the southern border as part of his effort to persuade Americans of the need for a border wall — the sticking point in negotiations with Democrats who are eager to reopen shuttered agencies.

The White House did not immediately respond to questions about a request to television networks to carve out time for an Oval Office address. A person familiar with the request said the White House had asked to interrupt prime-time programming on Tuesday.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, announced Mr. Trump’s plans to travel to the border on Thursday, which would be the 20th day of the partial government shutdown if an agreement between Congress and the White House is not reached in the meantime.

At the time of this article apparently all of the details had not been worked out, but apparently, the TV networks caved to the pressure.

I assume that Trump is hoping he can bullshit the American television audience into believing his version of the truth and stop listening to the news outlets that have been reporting the facts that he hates oh so much.

Trump already tried that tactic earlier today on Twitter, with mixed results, but I imagine that he wants a larger platform from which to spread his lies and disinformation.

For a preview of what tomorrow will bring let’s take a look at those tweets.

Oh yeah, tomorrow is going to be all kinds of batshit crazy.

Update: The Democrats are now asking for equal time to debunk some of the lies.

Top congressional Democrats are demanding television networks give them the same amount of airtime President Trump will get on Tuesday for his prime-time address on border security.

“Now that the television networks have decided to air the President’s address, which if his past statements are any indication will be full of malice and misinformation, Democrats must immediately be given equal airtime,” Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a joint statement on Monday night.

They have a point and it’s only fair.
