Claims they are misusing the funds they have already received.

President Trump doesn’t want to give Puerto Rico any more federal money for its recovery from Hurricane Maria, White House officials have told congressional appropriators and leadership. This is because he claims, without evidence, that the island’s government is using federal disaster relief money to pay off debt.

Trump also told senior officials last month that he would like to claw back some of the federal money Congress has already set aside for Puerto Rico’s disaster recovery, claiming mismanagement.

According to Axios, it is unlikely that Trump can get any of that federal money back set aside for relief, but he could refuse to sign a bill providing any more funds.

Which is terrible because the people of Puerto Rico are still suffering the effects of Hurricane Maria, with much rebuilding yet to do.

Apparently, Trump has been making noise about Puerto Rico’s mishandling of emergency funds for some time.

There is, as usual, no evidence to support Trump’s claims.

This appears to be yet another example of Trump’s attempts to punish people who refuse to kiss his ring.

It is also yet another example of his overt racism.
