Donald Trump claimed that he turned down a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister. Canada says “What meeting?”

Guess who’s lying again.

Courtesy of USA Today:

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he rejected a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during the United Nations General Assembly, but a spokeswoman for Trudeau’s government disputed that the meeting had ever been requested.

“Yeah, I did,” Trump said during a press conference in New York when asked if he has rejected the meeting. “His tariffs are too high and he doesn’t seem to want to move and I told him ‘forget about it’ and, frankly, we’re thinking about just taxing cars coming in from Canada.”

Trump’s remarks came as the U.S. and Canada have struggled to negotiate a deal to replace the 1994 North America Free Trade Agreement. Trump’s administration has said it has reached an agreement with Mexico but talks have not proceeded as quickly with Trudeau’s government.

But a spokeswoman for Trudeau, Eleanore Catenaro, said Canada never requested the meeting in the first place.

“No meeting was requested,” she said in a statement Trump’s press conference. “We don’t have any comment beyond that.”

You know it is no longer so much that Trump lies with almost every other breath, but that his lies often do not get the scrutiny that they deserve.

This is the president of the United States telling a boldface lie about one of our allies, solely for political reasons.

He is playing fast and loose with America’s reputation simply to elicit cheers from his deplorable base.

THAT should never be ignored or swept under the rug.

I am going to be very disgusted with Democrats if they don’t come out en masse in November and vote these Republicans OUT.

Trump negotiates like a mafioso with threats. To us Canadians, better no deal than a bad, crushing deal just to please Trump’s ego. We have to survive besides a very large and populous country with more power than us. If need be, we will have to find partners in the other countries that Trump has alienated or adapt in some other way.

Canada has always been a good neighbor and was never a threat to the US. However, we can and will stand on our own two feet without a trade deal with the US if need be.

If anyone has any doubt that the world is moving forward without the US at this point, listen to the laughter aimed at Trump at the United Nations’ Assembly. When was the last time the world dared to laugh at the President of the United States?

Maybe Trudeau should make a comment about Don the Con’s “really, really big, oh so big, head.” That would make Trump pay some attention to Canada. He’d think it was praise.

Ol Trumpty Dumpty. He says China likes him for his big brain. Something was lost in translation because China meant Trump has a big head, meaning a bloated ego.
