Courtesy of HuffPo:
Disgraced TV evangelist Jim Bakker says President Donald Trump is a test of faith and that Christians can pass by loving him.
“You know what? Trump is a test whether you’re even saved,” he said in a clip going viral on Twitter. “Only saved people can love Trump.”
But Bakker, a staunch Trump supporter who previously said impeachment would lead to a civil war, said it was no joke.
“No, you gotta be really saved,” he said. “You gotta forgive. You gotta be able to forgive. You forgive when you’re saved.”
The first thing I have to point is that I don’t think that Jim Bakker is still shuffling with a full deck.
He often sounds as if he is not completely aware of what he is saying, and others on the set sometimes have to jump in to save him from himself.
Secondly I have no idea how Bakker was ever allowed back on the air after being caught banging his church secretary and being sent to prison for fraud.
In the late 80’s and early 90’s the name Jim Bakker was nothing more than a joke told by hosts on late night TV.
And to be honest he is still a joke.
Which I’m sure is why he feels such a bond with Donald Trump, who is also a joke who somehow continues remain relevant.
P.S. By the way Jim Bakker also referred to the initial investigation into his fraudulent activities as a “witch hunt” so I guess he and Trump have that in common as well.
