I thought he was too busy suing a cow to do this?
Courtesy of the Washington Times:
Rep. Devin Nunes said on Saturday he plans to sue CNN and the Daily Beast for stories that accused him of meeting with a former Ukraine prosecutor in a hunt for dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden.
Mr. Nunes called “demonstrably false” an assertion from CNN’s source, an attorney for Soviet-born Lev Parnas, that the California Republican met with former chief Ukraine prosecutor Viktor Shokin in Vienna in 2018.
A spokesman for Mr. Nunes released an official statement to The Washington Times:
“These demonstrably false and scandalous stories published by the Daily Beast and CNN are the perfect example of defamation and reckless disregard for the truth. Some political operative offered these fake stories to at least five different media outlets before finding someone irresponsible enough to publish them. I look forward to prosecuting these cases, including the media outlets as well as the sources of their fake stories, to the fullest extent of the law. I intend to hold the Daily Beast and CNN accountable for their actions. They will find themselves in court soon after Thanksgiving.”
Well if this story is “demonstrably wrong” I guess it is up to Nunes and his attornies to demonstrate what is wrong about it.
Because I have to say that there is plenty of evidence to support it.

Congressional records show that Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) flew to Europe at the same time that Rudy Giuliani’s indicted crony Lev Parnas says the congressman met with an ousted Ukrainian prosecutor in a hunt for dirt on Joe Biden.
Nunes and three aides flew to Europe last year on Nov. 30 and returned Dec. 3 at a cost to taxpayers of $63,000, according to congressional records, which were unearthed by the Daily Beast. According to Parnas, Nunes met in Vienna last December with controversial former Ukraine prosecutor Viktor Shokin, CNN reported Friday. Shokin was forced out of office by the Ukrainian Parliament over corruption concerns in 2016 under pressure from the U.S. and Western allies. Biden was a key part of the effort to drive him out when he was vice president.
The meeting could turn out to be explosive for Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, who lambasted Democrats and the media at impeachment hearings.
So yeah, go right ahead Devin Nunes, sue CNN.
Then they can do a little discovery and get all of the evidence they need to countersue you and send you scurrying out of the courtroom with your tail between your legs.
Let him sue, he won’t survive the discovery and who knows they may even find MORE DIRT.
No wonder he went ballistic when Dr. Hill mentioned “some of you are propagating russian lies”, I wouldn’t be surprised if she knew he was Shokin.

Jake Tapper: Lying Has Become a ‘Key Part’ of Trump’s Defense Strategy
Jake Tapper previewed his CNN special “All the President’s Lies” with Brian Stelter this morning and talked about, well, all the president’s lies.
Stelter asked, “Is it fair to say we’re at the point where the president and his allied media outlets are waging a disinformation war on the public? Is it that bad?”
“There’s certainly a lot of disinformation coming from President Trump and his allies in the media and on Capitol Hill,” Tapper said. “There’s a lot of things that are said that are just factually not true. And the truth is I was thinking about this documentary before Ukraine happened, and before this scandal broke. But it has become — disinformation, lying has become a key part of his defense.”

In a telephone interview with Fox Business host Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, embattled Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) accused CNN of engaging in criminal activity for reporting that the attorney for Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas said the lamwmaker met with a corrupt Ukraine official in Vienna.
Asked by the Fox host, “Bottom line, were you in Vienna with Shokin?” Nunes demurred before going on a bit of a rant.

I hope Lev Parnas has copies of emails, a record of dates and meetings and recorded conversations.

In Virginia, and elsewhere, gun supporters prepare to defy new laws
Families, church groups, hunt clubs and neighbors began arriving two hours early, with hundreds spilling out of the little courthouse and down the hill to the street in the chilly night air.
They were here to demand that the Board of Supervisors declare Amelia County a “Second Amendment sanctuary” where officials will refuse to enforce any new restrictions on gun ownership.
A resistance movement is boiling up in Virginia, where Democrats rode a platform on gun control to historic victories in state elections earlier this month. The uprising is fueled by a deep cultural gulf between rural red areas that had long wielded power in Virginia and the urban and suburban communities that now dominate. Guns are the focus. Behind that, there is a sense that a way of life is being cast aside.
In the past two weeks, county governments from the central Piedmont to the Appalachian Southwest — Charlotte, Campbell, Carroll, Appomattox, Patrick, Dinwiddie, Pittsylvania, Lee and Giles — have approved resolutions that defy Richmond to come take their guns.
It mirrors a trend that began last year in western parts of the United States, where some law enforcement officials vowed to go to jail rather than enforce firearm restrictions, and has spread eastward. In New Mexico, 25 of 33 counties declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries after the state expanded background checks. In Illinois, nearly two-thirds of its counties have done the same.
“My oath of office is to uphold the Constitution of the United States,” Amelia Sheriff Ricky L. Walker said Wednesday night as he waited for the supervisors to meet in this rural county west of Richmond.
If a judge ordered him to seize someone’s guns under a law he viewed as unconstitutional, Walker said, he wouldn’t do it. “That’s what I hang my hat on,” he said.
Some of the unrest is fanned by gun rights groups, such as the National Rifle Association and the Virginia Citizens Defense League, which have used social media and old-fashioned networking to offer boilerplate language for resolutions. But the movement is speaking to the anxieties of many who are unsettled by a state that has shifted from red to blue with shocking speed.

And this is a stark reality!
Guns have killed 10% more teenagers and young adults every year since 2014 as the growing wealth gap drives more poor Americans to violence, study suggests
For the last five years, the victims of gun violence in the US have increasingly been young adults and children, a new study reveals.
Each year since 2009, 3.8 percent more children and babies under 14 have been killed by guns each year.
And for people between ages 15 and 44, deaths have surged by over 10 percent each year since 2014, according to the new Boston University study.
Study author Dr Bindu Kalesan says that her work and that of others shows even further differences between various groups and communities that suggest that a broad and blunt approach to stemming gun violence may be ineffective.
Instead, she says that efforts to counteract gun violence need to be tailored to the groups they affect and address the social issues that drive them, such as poverty, mental health issues and drug use.

The reason is that there was not any criminal activity. Nunes is making it up because he is trying to scare CNN and The Daily Beast. It isn’t a crime for a lawyer to talk to the press. It isn’t a crime for the press to report what they are told.
Nunes is humiliating himself with another bogus civil suit that is straight out of the Donald Trump playbook.
Speaking cover ups and secrecy and lying and corruption, THEY KNEW!!! 😵
Unearthed journal reveals coal industry KNEW about climate change and dangers of burning fossil fuels in 1966 – admitting ‘it could melt icecaps and flood cities including New York’
The coal industry knew about climate change and the dangers of burning fossil fuels as far back as 1966, according to an explosive journal uncovered for the first time.
A shocking entry in industry publication Mining Congress Journal from that year suggests those working in the field were aware the process could see ‘the temperature of the earth’s atmosphere will increase and that vast changes in the climates of the earth will result’.
Written by the then president of the now defunct Bituminous Coal Research Inc., James R. Garvey, it goes on: ‘Such changes in temperature will cause melting of the polar icecaps, which, in turn, would result in the inundation of many coastal cities, including New York and London.’
The piece was uncovered by university of Tennessee professor Chris Cherry, who told Huffington Post the words left him ‘floored’.
‘It pretty well described a version of what we know today as climate change’, Cherry said, adding: ‘Increases in average air temperatures, melting of polar ice caps, rising of sea levels. It’s all in there.’

‘Sue me,’ says Nunes challenger. He’ll help raise money for constituents in lawsuit
A challenger to Devin Nunes will help raise money for a legal defense fund for the residents being sued by the Republican congressman’s campaign.
A handful of lawyers already have reached out and offered to represent the defendants as well.

Nunes is a crook and also a coward. Don’t expect Nunes admit meeting with Ukraine officials until someone has definitive proof. Just like his mentor Donald Trump, unless he’s caught, it’s deny, deny, deny.
It’s not libel or slander if it’s true. A concept Republicans still can’t seem to grasp.

Republicans are fine with corruption as long as they are the ones committing it and benefitting from it.
“High-ranking House Democrat Rep. Adam Smith (Wash.), the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, said on MSNBC that it was “quite likely” that Nunes will now face an ethics investigation linked to the meeting allegation.
Giuliani said on Fox New that he doesn’t believe Nunes met with Shokin. But “if he did, there would’ve been nothing wrong with it,” he insisted.”
And there you have it. The “So What?” defense. I don’t think Giuliani is in any position to pass judgement on what is or is not wrong.

“Rudy Giuliani’s indicted associate Lev Parnas is prepared to tell Congress that Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) met with a former Ukrainian prosecutor who was ousted over corruption concerns in a bid to get dirt on Joe Biden, CNN reported Friday.
A lawyer for Parnas, a Soviet-born American who has been indicted on federal campaign finance violations, said his client found out about the European meeting directly from the Ukrainian official.
“Mr. Parnas learned from former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin that Nunes had met with Shokin in Vienna last December,” attorney Joseph Bondy told CNN.
Shokin was forced out of office by Ukraine’s Parliament in 2016 under pressure from the U.S. and other Western nations over concerns he was soft on corruption. As vice president at the time, Biden was active in pushing for Shokin’s ouster.
Bondy also told CNN that Parnas worked to connect Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, with other Ukrainians who allegedly could come up with negative information on former Vice President Biden and the Democrats. If true, Nunes would be the first member of Congress linked to gathering opposition research on President Donald Trump’s political rival from a former foreign official, CNN noted — and one with a score to settle with Biden, who had pushed for Shokin’s ouster.
Nunes declined repeated requests from CNN to comment.”

“It is Russian propaganda,” Malinowski said. “It’s shocking to me that a senior member of this body would accept that foreign propaganda as truth.”
The White House, however, was pleased with Nunes’ performance during the hearings.
Depositions should be fun. Truth is an absolute defense against slander and libel.
