Despite what US intelligence claims Trump says that Putin does not want to get involved in Venezuela. How does he know? Putin told him.

Why do we even have an intelligence community when all we have to do is ask Putin what he is up to?

Courtesy of Bloomberg:

Donald Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin isn’t seeking to “get involved” in the crisis in Venezuela, despite assertions by the American president’s top national security advisers that the Kremlin is offering critical support to Nicolas Maduro’s regime.

“He is not looking at all to get involved in Venezuela other than he’d like to see something positive happen for Venezuela,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Friday, following a call with the Russian leader earlier in the day. “And I feel the same way. We want to get some humanitarian aid — right now people are starving, they have no water, they have no food.”

The conversation, which Trump went on to describe as “very positive,” appeared to be yet another example of Trump taking Putin’s claims at face value despite contrary evidence from his own government. The White House national security adviser, John Bolton, and U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo both said earlier this week that the Kremlin talked Maduro out of leaving Venezuela after U.S.-backed opposition leader Juan Guaido attempted to end his regime on Tuesday by calling for a military uprising.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said later on Friday that Trump simply was “relaying what President Putin said to him. That’s it.”

Nice try Huckabee Sanders, but we can read.

And we can hear as well.

That is not Trump saying “According to Putin he does not want to get involved in Venezuela,” that is Trump definitively stating that Putin does not want to get involved in Venezuela as if he is somebody whose word should be trusted without question.

And this is just the latest example of Trump taking the word of a foreign adversary over the word of his own intelligence community.

Trump also wants you to ignore anything reported by the media that contradicts Putin.

Do not believe our intelligence agencies, do not believe our free press, only believe Putin.

I really cannot think of too many things more dangerous for our country than a president who thinks like this.

Pretty sad day in american hell when the president takes a direct call from his russain handler and does it openly. There is no america but the americans are still walking about as if there is one. We are the new amerika.

We might as well put “intelligence” community in lower case and quotes as I do.
I still remember that pic last November in France at the WWI ceremony.of dotard’s impish grin when Putin entered the room.
    Like Skipper and Gilligan.

The russsians sent fighter jets to Venezuela months ago, so much for “not getting involved”.

Yep, little donnie is a russian asset all right, and why does he believe him rather than our own intelligence agencies, just because Vlad tells him he is pretty ? what ever they have on donnie it must be a real doesy, to sell your country out for compliments only is would really be hitting the bottom of the barrel.

Thank you for bringing up Venezuela. Remember when he said, paraphrasing, that if he was taken out of office there would be a civil war like none other? I personally believe he’s rooting for it. To which I ask again, in a dwindling democracy, what kind of (cough) president says such shit?
