Christine Blasey Ford ready and willing to testify at Kavanaugh hearing, just as long as “terms are fair” and she feels safe.

The woman who has accused Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh of sexual assault has told the Senate Judiciary Committee, in an apparent bid to jump-start negotiations, that she “would be prepared to testify next week,” so long as senators offer “terms that are fair and which ensure her safety,” according to an email her lawyers sent to committee staff members.

In the email, obtained by The New York Times, the lawyer for Christine Blasey Ford said that testifying Monday — the timetable Republicans have set for a hearing — “is not possible and the Committee’s insistence that it occur then is arbitrary in any event.” The lawyer reiterated that it is Dr. Blasey’s “strong preference” that “a full investigation” occur before her testimony — wording that stopped short of demanding an F.B.I. probe and suggested she is open to testifying without one.

In the email, addressed to top Republican and Democratic aides on the committee, the lawyer, Debra Katz, wrote that she would like to set up a call later on Thursday to “discuss the conditions” under which Dr. Blasey would be prepared to testify.

“As you are aware, she has been receiving death threats, which have been reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and she and her family have been forced out of their home,” the email said. “She wishes to testify, provided that we can agree on terms that are fair and which ensure her safety.”

So now this woman is expected to step into a hostile environment, face off with a bunch of elderly men who want to destroy her credibility so that they can stack the Supreme Court in their favor, and do all of this without evidence from an FBI investigation to back her up?

And this comes after a week of vicious attacks which forced her and her family out of their home and into hiding.

Go ahead and try to convince me that she is a political operative willing to go through all of this just to sabotage the Republicans and Donald Trump.

By the way, while this woman is negotiating for her safety and to be treated with common decency, Kavanaugh is saying that he plans to show up for the still scheduled Monday Judiciary Committee hearing so that he can get his story on the record first.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Thursday reiterated his determination to appear at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing next week “so that I can clear my name.”

Kavanaugh’s statement came shortly after a lawyer for Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who has accused him of sexual assault, said that she was prepared to testify next week but that her appearance at the Monday hearing was “not possible.”

“Thank you for the invitation to appear before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary on Monday, September 24. I will be there. I look forward to the opportunity to testify before the Committee,” Kavanaugh said. “I continue to want a hearing as soon as possible so that I can clear my name.”

That actually seems fine with Ford whose lawyers have now submitted a list of conditions they would like to see met before thier client takes the hot seat.

Courtesy of CNN:

Congressional sources said Thursday that Ford wanted assurances about her safety before agreeing to testify and a guarantee that she will never be in the same room as Kavanaugh. She wants to be questioned by senators, not an outside lawyer — possibly to avoid the impression that she is on trial.

Ford’s attorneys also suggested that Kavanaugh testify first, that they would like Mark Judge — a key witness to the alleged assault — to be subpoenaed, and that they would prefer no time limits on what is likely to be a deeply emotional opening statement.

Several of those conditions are likely to be nonstarters for the committee’s Republican majority, including the notion of compelling testimony from Judge, who has said he has no memory of the alleged incident and does not want to appear.

Multiple sources said that most of Ford’s stipulations were not red lines but an opening point for negotiations. She has apparently moved off her initial request that the FBI conduct an investigation before a hearing.

I don’t know, nothing on that list seems out of line to me.

Especially if these Republicans really want to get to the truth.

Know what I mean?

dRUMPf> “Frankly, Sean, to see what is going on is very, very sad. Why didn’t somebody call the FBI 36 years ago?”

“kathleen Parker published a fatuous op-ed suggesting that Brett Kavanaugh must have an evil twin (she called it a “Kavanaugh doppelganger”) who attempted to rape Christine Blasey Ford at a high school party. Most people not steeped in the right-wing fever swamps thought Parker’s piece was just a bizarre fantasy, but those who are tuned in to social and professional GOP establishment circles understood that she was previewing a quasi-official alternative theory of the case.”
“Kavanaugh and his allies have been privately discussing a defense that would not question whether an incident involving Ford happened, but instead would raise doubts that the attacker was Kavanaugh, according to a person familiar with the discussions.”

Judge Brett Kavanaugh is a fine man, with an impeccable reputation, who is under assault by radical left wing politicians who don’t want to know the answers, they just want to destroy and delay. Facts don’t matter. I go through this with them every single day in D.C.

I have no doubt that, if the attack on Dr. Ford was as bad as she says, charges would have been immediately filed with local Law Enforcement Authorities by either her or her loving parents. I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!

‘“A few GOP optimists, inside and outside the White House, are spreading the claim that a Kavanaugh loss could have a midterm upside. The argument: Candidates would light up the base by highlighting Democrats’ ambush tactics. President Trump would name a new nominee, and voters would rush to the polls to guarantee a GOP Senate and an ultimate confirmation.” ““Wiser Republicans note there’s a reason Spartacus [Sen. Cory Booker –D-NJ] & Co. are working so hard to defeat this nomination. It’s partly because they despise Judge Kavanaugh’s philosophy and fear a fifth conservative on the high court, ” “But it is mostly because it is a fabulous issue with the Democratic base. Nothing would more energize that part of the electorate than a Kavanaugh scalp.”

She then warned, “It would signal the ‘resistance’ is effective and spur an avalanche of votes for liberal candidates who promise continued obstruction of Mr. Trump’s agenda.” SHE RAGED. “But listen to those base voters on Twitter, on radio, in public forums. They are prepared to release most of their rage over any Kavanaugh defeat on the Republican Party. One of their abiding complaints is that GOP politicians too easily succumb to liberal tactics. It is among the most-cited reasons they voted for Mr. Trump—that (for better or worse) he doesn’t back down.”

“Astonishingly, Whelan also tweeted the name, former address, photographs, and Facebook posts of this individual, who is a private citizen. Immediately, condemnations rained down on the once-lionized activist (a former clerk to Justice Scalia and head of the right-wing Ethics and Public Policy Center) from all quarters: conservative and liberal, public and private. Immediately, some wondered whether his tweets constitute defamation.

Answer: unless Whelan’s suspect is guilty, they sure do.” “Defamation is defined under common law as any false statement of fact that exposes a person to hatred or ridicule, or which might harm the victim’s business or trade. Under federal law, it means statements that are “false, have caused damage to reputation or emotional distress, have presented any person in a false light, or have resulted in criticism, dishonor, or condemnation of any person.” (Libel refers to written defamatory statements; slander to spoken ones. Tweets count as written.)

Whelan’s statement easily qualifies. In fact, accusing someone of a criminal offense is so egregious that it is “defamation per se,” meaning, it’s always considered defamatory. (See the Restatement (2d) of Torts, §§ 570-574.) You don’t have to prove emotional distress or reputational harm—if you’re wrongly accused of sexual assault, you’ve been defamed.”

I made an appalling and inexcusable mistake of judgment in posting the tweet thread in a way that identified Kavanaugh’s Georgetown Prep classmate. I take full responsibility for that mistake, and I deeply apologize for it. I realize that does not undo the mistake.

Hope the guy he accused sues for defamation, he is a teacher, certainly will impact his job.

By the way, if Brett is so innocent, why are they coming out falsely accusing some other guy???? Because Brett is GUILTY

      “Update, October 3:

Courthouse News reports that the lawsuit has been refiled in federal court in Manhattan. The new witness is identified by the pseudonym “Joan Doe.” In a one-sentence declaration she says she was told about the allegations in the “1994-1995 school year,” and that the plaintiff told her that she was “subject to sexual contact by the Defendants at parties in the New York City during the summer of 1994.” The declaration is signed July 23, 2016.”

“In 1994, Trump went to a party with Jeffrey Epstein, a billionaire who was a notorious registered sex offender, and raped a 13-year-old girl that night in what was a “savage sexual attack,” according to a lawsuit filed in June 2016 by “Jane Doe.” The account was corroborated by a witness in the suit, who claimed to have watched as the child performed various sexual acts on Trump and Epstein even after the two were advised she was a minor.

      “Immediately following this rape Defendant Trump threatened me that, were I ever to reveal any of the details of Defendant Trump’s sexual and physical abuse of me, my family and I would be physically harmed if not killed,” {SOUND FAMI*LIAR}

This is a pattern for Trump. He has insisted that all of the women who have accused him of sexual assault are liars”

“OP moderate Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska have not said if they will vote to confirm Kavanaugh, and seem to be taking a “wait and see” approach.

If Ford testifies and appears credible it will put huge amounts of pressure on the two women senators — who supposedly are “pro-choice” — to vote against Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

Democratic senators in red states, such as Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota, Joe Donnelly in Indiana, and Joe Manchin in West Virginia have also not said if they will vote to confirm Kavanaugh.”

“Demand Justice, a liberal judicial advocacy group, plans to launch television ads in Alaska and Maine on Friday featuring a female narrator reciting Ford’s allegation that Kavanaugh, while groping her, covered her mouth to muffle her shouts for help. The ad closes by asking whether the GOP senators will “listen to her now.”
The ad is also set to run in Nevada to target Republican Sen. Dean Heller, who is facing a difficult reelection this fall, and in Colorado, where Republican Sen. Cory Gardner is likely to face a tough reelection in 2020.
NARAL Pro-Choice America, an abortion rights group, threatened to fight against Collins’ 2020 reelection if she votes for Kavanaugh. “She will never again be able to claim the mantle of an ally to women or survivors, and that is not something that women will ever forget,””

““In this situation, let’s be clear about this, this is about whether or not this guy should get a promotion. That’s the inquiry. And we do not have the burden of proving this beyond a reasonable doubt,” added Harris, who said this week that she believes Ford’s allegations. “This is about whether he has the judgment, the character, and the suitability to serve a lifetime appointment on the highest court. Which is a court that has, as its purpose and responsibility, to be the purveyor of justice.””

“his week, as the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation disaster has further unfolded, they’ve all been behaving true to form. There’s Majority Leader McConnell, that sanctimonious mock turtle of prevarication and faux rectitude tut-tutting – inaccurately — about Democrats bringing forth an accusation of assault against a teenage Kavanaugh “at the 11th hour.” And here’s Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley doing his damnedest to make any hearing confrontation between Kavanaugh and his accuser – if it happens — as limited and belittling to her as possible.

Orrin Hatch says Christine Blasey Ford, “this woman, whoever she is, is mixed up… mistaken.” And Lindsey Graham snarkily asks who paid for her lie detector test and declares, “This has been a drive-by shooting when it comes to Kavanaugh. I’ll listen to the lady, but we’re going to bring this to a close.” Move along, nothing to see here, don’t bother your pretty little heads.”
“Seth Klarman, New England’s biggest donor to the Republican Party — he gave nearly $3 million to Republicans in the 2016 elections — says that by Election Day, he may have given as much as $20 million to Democratic candidates; more, perhaps than George Soros.

He told columnist Bari Weiss at The New York Times, “We need to turn the House and Senate as a check on Donald Trump and his runaway presidency…. I’m stretching far beyond what I usually do.”

Klarman thinks we’re in an “emergency,” that “democracy is at stake.” Trump is plagued by “ill temper, chronic impulsivity, limited attention span, ignorance of history and flawed judgment.”

Judge is lying. He remembered plenty when he wrote his first two books. He just doesn’t want to commit perjury.

Another classmate a few years back says it woudln’t be hard for the FBI to find out the time and location of the party given the clues in her memory. There would be other witnesses since there were at least five people at this party. That’s two people unaccounted for minus Ford, Kavanaugh and Judge.
