A Mount Vernon man is charged with premeditated murder after investigators said he decapitated his girlfriend in front of a 3-year-old girl.

Timothy Paul Hernandez, 32, was charged this week with first-degree murder and being held on $1 million bail.

Mount Vernon police were called to the 1200 block of North 18th Street on Sunday afternoon. Hernandez and his girlfriend lived with his parents, and they called police after finding her about 12:45 p.m.

They told investigators said Hernandez and his girlfriend were verbally arguing before going to bed that Saturday night. They left for church sometime between 9:30 and 10 a.m. and when they returned home, they found the woman dead.

Hernandez was located at the Cascade Mall in Burlington with the 3-year-old girl he shared with the victim, police said.

“Timothy advised that he had spoken with God, who told him to strike down his girlfriend … because she did not repent,” a detective wrote in charging documents. “Timothy stated that he struck her down, and caused for her head to be removed from her body.”

Investigator said Hernandez quoted two Bible verses to them, including a passage from the Book of Revelations.

“Each of the verses that were quoted had passages in them that spoke about women who did not follow God’s word, so God stuck them down.”

Hernandez told investigators that he is not crazy because crazy people do not tell the truth, but I am here to tell you that people with significant mental health issues can still be frighteningly honest about things best kept to themselves.

You know Christians like to look down their noses at Muslims and other religions that they find less refined than their own, but zealotry is present in ALL religions practices and really the only thing that keeps this kind of thing from happening more often in America is the realization that “God told me to do it” is not a valid legal defense in this country.

This guy is a sick fuck, who was undoubtedly made sicker by his absolute unwavering faith in a primitive superstition whose holy book is filled with instructions on how to enslave, wage war, or outright murder those who are not believers.

Don’t believe me?

Well here is a sample from Deuteronomy 13:

“If your brother, the son of your mother, your son or your daughter, the wife [c]of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers, 7 of the gods of the people which are all around you, near to you or far off from you, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth, 8 you shall not [d]consent to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him; 9 but you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. 10 And you shall stone him with stones until he dies, because he sought to entice you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Yep, there you go.

It is really the secular laws which protect us from those who would desire to do “God’s will” against all of those who are deemed not sufficiently obedient to their chosen deity.

I think we should thank our forefathers for making sure that this was NOT a Christian nation, ruled by biblical laws.

    So horrible.

These monotheistic texts are taken as word-for-word literalism by the ignorant who cannot see what is being connoted. And they remain blind as Christian tribalism and its political interest is what is important to them.

Felt mythlessness is the result of religion literalized.
Believers, agnostics, atheists – all these titles are ignorant. They do not reflect what we are, nor are they universal. There would be no beheadings were the metaphysical eye unveiled, the mythological experienced.
