I reported on this break in way back in August, which gives you some indication as to how long ago this segment was filmed.
Courtesy of ET:
Toward the beginning of the episode, Bristol is showing her sister, Piper, her new Texas home after she moved out from Dakota’s home. She then tells her that another one of Dakota’s properties was broken into the night before by a man who has stalked the Palin family ever since Sarah Palin’s Vice Presidential run in 2008. She noted that Dakota captured the culprit on video and added that the man has recently been on the run from the law.
“It’s super scary,” Bristol tells her sister.
Later in the episode, Bristol takes a self-defense class to help calm her nerves, but the positives from that experience are washed away when she FaceTimes with an upset Dakota, who informs her that he has been dealing with U.S. Marshals, the FBI, and Secret Service to help find this man.
“I’m sorry that this is happening and I know that this guy has been a stalker of my family’s for 10 years, and I just feel awful that he broke into your home,” Bristol tells her ex.
“All this is is proof that I’m not crazy for thinking and wanting to be concerned for our kids’ safety,” Dakota begins shouting, which prompts Bristol to reply, “Nobody’s calling you crazy.”
Once again Bristol apologizes to Dakota for having to go through the “fear” she and her family have dealt with in the past.
The article goes on to explain that Dakota becomes even more upset that Bristol refuses to take any precautions against this type of thing, which in his case I would assume means strategically placing various loaded firearms within easy reach all over the house, and then Bristol gets pissed off that he suggests that she does not take precautions.
I can guarantee you that this whole self-defense class thing was something the Teen Mom OG producers thought up since Bristol’s go to defense posture is to scream curse words, play the victim, and threaten to have her mother sue you.
Having said that I think that this latest incident with Christy was pretty concerning, as he is clearly unhinged and potentially dangerous.
However I think that what both Dakota and Bristol need is a good dog, and maybe a security system installed, and not self-defense courses or an arsenal of loaded guns around the house.
Or, and this is just a thought, perhaps you could help to protect your family by not trotting them out in front of reality cameras every couple of years to give potential stalkers the idea that you are inviting them into your lives.
By the way for those not following the news Shawn Christy was arrested last month and no longer poses a danger. However, there is no telling how many Shawn Christy types might be watching this season of Teen Mom OG and thinking that Bristol is just waiting for them to follow her for a couple of weeks, break into her house, and sweep her off her feet so that they can live happily ever after in an abandoned shack in the woods.
