I held off on posting this until more facts were made clear.

At least one person has died after a gunman opened fire Thursday at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, Calif., according to hospital and law enforcement officials. Several other people were injured — two of them are said to be in critical condition.
The suspected gunman “is in custody and being treated at a local hospital,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva says.
Five victims were being transported to Henry Mayo Hospital, which says that three of them — two males and one female — arrived in critical condition. The female patient later died. Another male patient was in good condition and a fifth patient was still en route, according to the hospital.
Law enforcement officials had described the suspect as a male wearing black clothing.
The supect is being described as Asian, and earlier reports that he was dead are apparently not accurate.
This continues to be an unfolding story so the number of casualties could change, as could the status of the shooter.
All we know at this time is that a high school kid opened fire just as school began at 7:05 and wounded several students, he then fled campus, and was apprehended in a nearby neighborhood.
A number of Democrats running for president have weighed in and promised to take action to put a stop to these school shootings, and I for one plan to hold them to that.
This is not the kind of country that any of us should want to live in, or raise our children in.
Update: A little more detail courtesy of The Daily Mail:
According to law enforcement, surveillance video from the school showed the accused gunman pulling a .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol from his backpack, firing on five people and then shooting himself in the head.
The 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital, where he is listed in grave condition.
A female student, aged 16, has died of her injuries, along with a 14-year-old male student.
The surviving victims were described as two girls, ages 14 and 15, and a boy aged 14.
Officers seized the purposed murder weapon, which had no rounds left in it.
Officials searched the family home of the suspect on Sycamore Creek Drive in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
Today was the shooter’s 16th birthday.
